Anyone else feel wary of traveling on 9/11?

My family is vacationing this year beginning on Labor Day. We are going to Williamsburg, Va and Washington DC. We will be in Washington on 9/11. Ever since the terrorists struck I have felt wary of being in large places on that day.
When I planned this vacation, the timing of 9/11 and being in Washington did not occur to me. Only today when I wrote to our senator to get tickets to tour the Capitol did it occur to me. We are touring the Capitol on 9/12. On 9/11 we'll probably be in the Smithsonian, etc.

Not wary at all, just very sad.:sad1:

Anything can happen any day, anywhere. Just have to keep living & enjoying life as much as possible and try not to worry. I hope you can enjoy your vacation.

Traveling on 9/11 does not concern me anymore than traveling on Christmas, July 4, or April 20(anniversary of Columbine shootings.) I will not live my life hostage to terrorism.

It would not concern me as all. I think if we're going to be attacked again it will be just as random as the first time. I will not allow them to make me change my life because I am afraid.

I personally feel it is the safest day of the year to travel. I accidentally flew home on the 1 year anniversary of 9/11. At first we were a bit worried (a girls week away) but then we figured security would be extra tight that day.

I don't think any major tourist site is an issue on 9/11.

Well, I'm certainly not letting fear dictate my life. We are going on our vacation. And I live in a town where a serial killer just killed 5 of us before the police killed him. I know a lot about fear and overcoming it.

The date 9/11 just makes me aware of danger in the world.

Lost 295 friends on 9/11. I usually spend that day with other survivors...

Not for fear of terrorists. In fact if I were to be traveling on 9/11, it would be to spite the terrorists.

I have traveled over 9/11 many times since 2001. I have actually flown on 9/11 as well.
Thoughts do cross my mind but I tell myself that security is always higher around then at airports and they will be extra cautious....that usually makes me feel better.

to be honest I still have a little secret fear every single time we fly. but I just push it away and don't dwell on it.

not at all. i kind of feel that 9/11 is the safest day of the year. because we're expecting it to happen again (which in my opinion, means that it won't. if we were to be attacked again, they would not do it on a day that we're expecting. they're going to blindsight us again, like they did last time)

I flew 9/11 home from a girls only weekend trip to Los Angeles in 2007.

When picking flights I chose Burbank, instead of LAX, just figuring it would be more convenient. I didn't even think about the date until we were going through security.
Their TSA agents had placed signs in remberance of those who lost their lives that day in the security area.

We weren't nervous but we were at least grateful that we were in the smaller airport of Burbank and not messing with LAX... I figure on that day, like a PP said, many TSA agents are remembering that day as they do their jobs...

We will be arriving at Disney that day and it has crossed my mind, but I'm not going to worry about it. What is going to happen will and there is nothing that I can do about it. I always say a prayer for God to watch over us in our travels and he always does. :goodvibes

I am flying from St. Croix to Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico to JFK, JFK to Oakland... Gonna be a long trip home.

I wrestle with that one, going between "I'll never travel on that date" (maybe over that date, but not on it), and "I should just to spite them".
I would not say that I live in fear of the terrorists, and I agree with the others that 9/11 is probably the safest day to travel, but the 9/11 attacks did hit my family. One of my dad's aunts was on the first plane to hit the WTC. As such it's a significant day, and it's one of remembrance. And as much as I don't want to be, yes, I am wary because of what happened.
