I had surgery last weekend and since I've been home I've noticed that while I am sometimes hungry, I have no taste for the foods that I eat.

Has anyone else gone though this? Will my tastebuds come back?!

I lost my sense of taste after I finished my last round of chemotherapy. That's not exactly true. I could still taste sour and bitter, but I couldn't taste sweet and salty. I lost a desire for food. It took about 10 weeks for my taste to come back and the moment it did it brought my appetite with it.

Yes, that happened to me after a procedure where anesthesia was required. It did take several days until my taste buds were back to normal. Don't worry.:)

Seems that all I can taste right now is Salty! Everything seems so oversalted and I am one of those people who usually needs to salt things!

Congrats on finishing your Chemo!

I'm hoping they come back soon! Thanks for putting me at ease though!

Just bumping this to see if anyone else on now has had this experience!

Yes for about 2 weeks. I also had a metal taste in my mouth about as long. Both of which my Dr. said were normal.

OH good! I'm glad to know that others had it too and that a week may be too soon to get over it. I was getting worried!

Try zinc- I used to lose my sense of smell and taste after sinus infections. Once for 6 months. A friend told me to take zinc-two days later I got it back.
