Anyone else excited about Wizarding World of Harry Potter

They are renaming Dueling Dragons and The Flying Unicorn, and I think changing some of the ride que to fit the new theme. They are also adding a new attraction and the shops/restaurants. We love Universal and Islands of Adventure and are very excited about the new attractions. We don't have any trips planned for awhile but we will definitely make another trip to Orlando someday for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

I've read some very positive reviews from people who stayed onsite and got to use the FOTL privilege. It's like going from third class to first.

It is ridiculous how much fun you can have when you never, ever have to wait in a line (ok, except for food and potty)

Quickly jumping OT, but since you all are my friends ;) I must tell you that if you plan to visit Universal for this new attraction, be sure to do this: STAY ON-SITE!!! I do not care what it costs or if you need to sell one of your children to afford it....just DO IT. Universal's front-of-line access perks make Disney's FastPass system look like a joke. LOL.

Ok that's all.

Or just go during off peak times and you can walk-on everything like we do. We usually go the first week of December, and visit US/IOA at least 3 days. We go during the week when crowds are smallest. Rarely wait in line for anything and if we do it's just a few minutes.

Yes, we are VERY excited about it!! I have no idea when we will be able to go, but we will definitely go sometime!! We are big fans of everything Harry Potter!

My sons are older and Universal is great for them, while we still love the mouse world, the new fantasy land does absolutely nothing for us.

I just wish disney remembered that people do give birth to boys every now and again.

We're going to split our next visit. do 6 days at the world and then 4 at universal. We'll stay at the world though.

Here's a little bit of info on the new ride called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Is is taking place inside of Hogwarts. The queue will have visitors roaming through the halls of Hogwarts and visiting 8 different rooms from movies (Dumbledore's office, etc.) The ride itself is using new technology based on the robo-coaster. It is a robotic arm with some type of vehicle at the end of it allowing you to not only be moved along a flat track but at the same time, your vehicle will rise and fall and twist and turn. The characters from the movie have already filmed the scenes for the ride so they will be incorporated somehow, perhaps in 3D, as well as the experience of amazing sets designed by the same set designer from the movies and, of course, animatronics. You will exit the ride through a gift shop, of course, which is Filch's Emporium of Confiscated goods.

Here is a link to the video. http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/first_look_uo2.html
Make sure you watch the whole thing as it looks like it ends after Daniel, Rupert and Emma (Harry, Ron and Hermione) speak.

I just wonder if guests are going to be able to go into the castle and roam around without having to go on the ride? I am not a ride person but I really need to see the inside of that castle!!!;)

I am SO excited about it. I love the Mouse and will always return to WDW, but I sure wish Disney's big addition had been something to appeal to all ages and sexes like this. We spend at most 1/2 a day in Fantasyland on a week-long trip, and I don't see the addition changing that.

I'm VERY excited about it, but not planning a special trip around it. I think I'll wait until the initial crowds subside (sure it will be regularly crowded forever!)

I've always wondered what Butter Beer would really taste like!

Very excited! I'm kinda planning my first trip to Universal because of this! :rotfl:

I am sure there will be a chicken door and it will be well used!

Saw that robot arm for Forbidden Journey on the news last night, looks really awesome! But my equilibrium will not allow me to ride so count me in as someone hoping for a chicken door:thumbsup2

I'm very excited!! But Disney will always hold the #1 spot in my heart!

"visitors will be able to sample butter beer and pumpkin juice at the Three Broomsticks Restaurant, relax in the Owlery and be fitted with a wand at Olivander's Wand shop."

"Major attractions include the Dragon Challenge, a high speed ride described as "definately for the brave" based on the Triwizard Tournament and another ride Flight of the Hippogriff, a coaster based on the mythical creature."

I can't imagine it could ever be as cool as one WANTS it to be. Sigh.

I TOTALLY agree with the statement that Disney needs to remember that boys also exist. Frankly, buying Marvel isn't going to do the trick like they think it will. We want something original and Disney. Not something bought and re-issued.

I think that Universal hit the nail on the head with Harry Potter. I can't wait to see it and I will plan extra time away from WDW to visit and we will stay on site, too.

We are going in Dec and I'm a little sad we will be just a few months early! This looks amazing, I can't wait. We'll definitely add Universal to our next WDW trip (2010ish)

OK so I'm not following, robot arm? Robo arm? I didn't see the visuals, so I'm not picturing this, how is this working in with a ride?
