My 10 year old daughter and I got to spend the day together at MK last week. We poncho-ed up, held strong and after everyone left, we rode the rides with little wait. But I love the look of Main Street, The Castle, etc in the rain. I just think it's beautiful. Then we rode the People Mover and got to film all of Tomorrowland while it was raining. But most importantly, me and my little princess laughed our heads off and just had a wet, magical day. She's an amazing, fun kid. But she's growing fast. Hoping to book again for next October. Gotsta enjoy that young-un while she still loves Disney!! But - to my main point - I really do enjoy an afternoon of showers while at WDW. NOT EVERY DAY!! Just a day or two! Anyone else???

1. Gotsta enjoy that young-un while she still loves Disney!! But - to my main point - I really do enjoy an afternoon of showers while at WDW. NOT EVERY DAY!! Just a day or two!

2. Anyone else???

1. I loved Disney and Disney parks in grade school, high school, college, and continuing to this day.
Ditto for the kids (now adults) in our extended family. So there's hope.

2. Yes, we have thoroughly enjoyed many a rainy day at WDW and Disneyland. Makes the whole experience different.
In fact, I remember more about the rainy days, in particular, than I do of most individual Disney days, in general.

I enjoyed it when we there the beginning of Feb. It rained on our MK day and lots of people left. We put ponchos on and enjoyed no lines. The best part was when we went on Main Street and bc of the rain canceled the dance party they do(forgot the name) but instead saw a dancing in the rain parad. Something we've never seen so it was fun to see it.

No. I *hate* it. However, we have spent monsoon days in the parks. This passed July we had a not so magical day at MK. They came over the loud speaker to tell us to take cover. We were in a little store in Adventureland. That sucked. It was packed. When released it was like we needed canoes to get through the park. Kids LOVED it. I pouted. :) I did enjoy sitting on our balcony at AKL watching the storms. That was ok.

I am from Florida, grew up in Pcola. You think I'd be used to it.

I'm a fan of anything that thins out crowds that isn't a communicable disease.

:p I take hand sanitizer with me and force it on my kids until we can wash properly. And constantly say "don't touch your face". Do you know how hard that is to not touch your face when its hot and sweaty?!

I don't love an all day washout, but like Robo, my most memorable day or moment of several trips was the rainy day! Most recently it drizzled and threatened all day at DHS and had one afternoon 20 min burst. After dinner, we head to Famtamic with our ponchos at the ready - well, I had my family's dollar store cheapies, my parents had just bought some Disney ones, and somehow brother and his kids had none. We exactly fit in Famtasmic before the skies absolutely opened up! My 9 yo daughter ripped a hole down low in her poncho, so her 4yo cousin could be under the poncho with her and still breathe - they giggled and splashed all the way to the busses and were the funniest little 2-headed drowned rat you ever did see!

We had a not too magical downpour but it was a pain wiht a double stroller and the rental rain cover which still soaked through. However now that my son can walk around wiht a poncho I think we will enjoy it! But like you said, one day is enough :)

We had one of our best times at the Magic Kingdom during a torrential downpour. We'd manage to dodge most of the periodic cloud burst, up to the point where we got into line to ride Big Thunder Mountain. Just as we were coming up to the loading platform, we saw a WALL of water come pouring down over the entrance. The cast member who was directing people to cars laughed and said, "Guess, what Big Thunder is now a WATER RIDE!"

Then they shot us out into it. I couldn't see a thing! We just screamed the entire time, with water pounding into our faces. By the time we got off, we were soaked down to our undies.

And that basically freed us from having to spend any more effort on staying dry. We ran over to Splash Mountain and rode without a wait. Then we hopped back to Big Thunder. Pirates (bit chilly). More Big Thunder! While everyone else was huddled under awnings, hiding from the rain, my husband and I were skipping and giggling through puddles. It was SO much fun!

We were almost sorry when the rain let up and the lines grew again.

It rained heavily the first three days of our trip last year. We had a blast, the baby stayed dry until our maclaren rain shield and the rest of us just dealt with being soaked (I hate ponchos). One of the best memories from the trip actually was encouraging the kids to splash in the huge rain puddles on the walk from Beach Club to Hollywood Studios. They were shocked that we were telling them to jump higher instead of yell at them ;) Like others said, it really can thin out the crowds too which is always nice!

We've had several magical rain days at Disney. The rainy day parade (as another poster mentioned) is really cute.

Once it was bucketing rain at RD - we were at DHS with ponchos - hopped on TSM, came off re-ponchoed up and walked out the CM at the standby line was waving to people to encourage them to come onto the ride - we did it again and again - rode TSM 8 times before 11 am and finally stopped because our arms were tired.

It was raining one day when they had already started the AK parade - we watched tons of people heading for the exit - we stood there and waved at the characters all by ourselves and had a grand old time.

We've also jumped in puddles, had the 'almost empty' MK experience (with most people leaving the park or hiding under cover) and walked in water up to our ankles! We like rain days - but not so much if they are rainy and cold!

Yes, we have enjoyed the occasional rainy day. We had an MK day where it was basically a monsoon. It was a chilly day too. The park emptied out and everything was walk on. DD then 3 was happily walking down the path through Frontierland hand in hand with me kicking at puddles, belting Singing in the Rain, and then she looked up at me with that sweet little face and said "Mama, this is the best day ever! You never let me play outside in the rain at home!". The next morning it was still raining and we were at AK. The park was pretty empty and there was no line for Safari. They were letting everyone who wanted to just stay on the vehicle and go around again and again. The animals were loving the rain and were all out playing in it.

On another trip we had a day at EPCOT where it rained most of the day. I never realized how pretty EPCOT was in the rain. We also enjoyed that a lot of the WS photopass photographers, both with and without characters, moved inside so we have photos that are different from the ones we usually get on our trips. Some of my favorite photos from that trip are ones where a photopass photographer inside Mexico took us and started putting sombreros on all of us and snapping photos. We had a lot of fun with him. There are some cute photos of DD where a photopass photographer posed her inside the shop in France (before the remodel) with a beret on and "painting" at an easel. There can definitely be lots of fun made out of rainy days! Sure, I prefer the days that are 70 degrees and sunny, but I wouldn't give up some of the rainy day fun we have had either!

I don't mind a couple of days but Sept. 2014 got to me. The first 2 days I handled fine but by day 3 I was sick of all the rain - and it rained and rained and rained almost the whole 5 days I was there. I was wishing I was a duck. I had to use the dryers at the resort to dry clothes because they were too wet to dry in the room.

I'm taking a break from September this year even if I will miss MNSSHP.

We enjoy a rainy day once in a while as long as it isn't cold. One day it was pouring and the rest of the family was not up to it but I tromped over to DHS to find walk on conditions for all rides. I rode ToT about 10 times including once when I was the only passenger. The usually somber staff could not help cracking a smile. And the photo lady (when they still had to print them) was calling all her coworkers over to see my solo ride picture. Fun.

No, not really.

Rain puts a huge damper on the day. We make the best of it, and still have fun overall, but it's not nearly as nice as a sunny day.

Some things that rain brings that sunny days don't:
  • Wearing ponchos. Just don't like it. It's like walking around in a garbage bag, with it sticking to any exposed skin that happened to get wet.
  • Pain in the butt taking the ponchos on/off all the time, then having to dry them later at the resort
  • Soggy sandals, which can then lead to smelly soggy sandals
  • Air conditioned places now feel like freezers
  • Some rides shut down
  • Can't take photos or video easily...

Don't mean to be a downer, just based on our experience.

It rained our very first day in the parks last May. It was disappointing not to see the MK Welcome show, but it was not crowded at all and we rode with basically no lines. My little boys were able to ride Dumbo 3 times in row, they didn't even make us get off! Overall it was a fun morning, the boys thought it was fun to get wet. The sun came out in the afternoon and so did the crowds.
I wouldn't want to deal with the rain every park day, but once in a while, it can be fun.

I love rain anywhere! Doesn't bug me one bit at WDW. Torrential or not...I love it!

One of my fave memories is watching my husband and then 2 year old son dancing in the MASSIVE downpour at Epcot back in 2006. They were soaked to the bone, but damn they were having fun!

Also, fantastic to nap to, as well :)

No, No, No, and Never!!!!!!! :(

I haven't been to Disney yet, but my rainy days in other (much smaller) parks are generally ok ... I too enjoy the low attendance and splashing in puddles. The only thing I can't handle is soggy shoes. UGH. Squishing around in my socks and sneakers, or slipping off my flip flops? Huge bummer to me.
