Anyone else disappointed with the Star Wars ride ?

It's a late 80's attraction - so I'm not surprised you are a little disappointed if it's your first time riding! I think a lot of people have been riding it so long, it's sentimental (like Cranium Command). It could definitely use a new movie.

i have never really liked the ride (but I am also not a huge fan of the movie), but i thought they could have done a little more with it.

I hate Star Wars and have never seen a Star Wars movie in my life, but its an okay ride.
There's not all that much to do at MGM anyway so why not?
It is VERY outdated though.
I would never wait in line for it. Whenever I ride it, its pretty much walk-on.

Just curious - if you have never seen any of the movies, how could you possibly hate them?

And I disagree that there is not much to do in MGM. I find plenty to do when I'm there.

We love Star Wars - movies, games, SWWeekends but we feel this ride is in need of a major update. Something 4D would be awesome!

I don't know. I didn't actually see it. The heat inside the car got to me, and when it started moving, I hid my face behind Bf's shoulder to keep from puking on all of the nice folks trapped in the car with me! :scared1:

I like the ride but since it's been around for a long time, it needs to be updated...IMHO.

I agree that it needs a bit of updating. When I first when on it, it was fairly new at the time. Last October when I went on it, it didn't have the same feel and excitement as it had previously. However, my DH and our DS4 loved it! DH told me that he always wanted to feel like he was in Star Wars and this let him have that experience.

Star Tours opened in 1990, about a year after the park itself opened.

Wow! No wonder my memories of riding it were really good. I was there in the summer of '90 (HS grad present from my parents) and remember the long line just to experience it. But it was definately worth it.

The thing is is that it is a good ride, just so dated.

I really think it could be so much more if it would just be updated.

Not me - I went in late August, and most of WDW was a ghost town by then. Star Tours was a walk-on; which was great, because I got to ride it several times.

It was the very first attraction that I experienced in the very first Disney park I ever visited. I wonder if that nostalgia might have skewed my opinion on it, but when I look back, I remember being just as eager to ride it then as I am today, and never being dissapointed.

The ride was excellant in its time, I recall waiting in line the opening year for 1.5 hrs, then it was worth the wait, now if its a 10 min wait, I'll walk by.

I really like the ride. The queue is amazing and the ride is awesome, but like all of you have said, it does need updating.

I love the ewok village!

Like many others, I think it could use updating, but it is what it is, and am happy even if it doesn't get the update.

We were there in the beginning of July and it was crowded. Of course, that could have been b/c it was the week of July 4th....
