My mother looooooooves Star Wars, and this ride was a huge let down for her.

Anyone else feel this way ?

I am not a Star Wars fan at all... but for what it is worth, I like the ride. Maybe I just don't have the Star Wars knowledge to know how to make it better:goodvibes

Sorry that your mom was disappointed!

I like the ride but since it's been around for a long time, it needs to be updated...IMHO.

I like the ride but you have to remember how many years it has been open. Technology has really changed.....

Thanks for the feedback, you are all right. I didn't exactly word the original post the right way. She was disappointed and it was a let down but that was really because it is so outdated, she just kind of expected it to be more up-to-date and interactive.

I can't exactly say I don't like it. But every time I ride it I think "Is that all there is?" A very skippable attraction IMO

It was state-of-the-art when it opened in the late 80's (87, I think).

It's still pretty fun, but yes, it's now out-dated. It really deserves to have the minds of Disney Imagineers and Lucasfilm special effects gurus put to the task of coming up with something incredible.

DS LOVES this ride! Last summer we rode it 4 times in a row!!! I had the audio stuck in my head for quite some time!

I'm okay with it. Our 8-year-old LOVES it. Not just the ride, but the whole walk-through. Very well-themed.

That said, I don't think either of us would mind a bit of updating.

Star Tours was the first attraction I ever experienced at WDW, and is still my favorite to this day.

I don't believe that the ride needs "updating" per se, but I deo believe that a makover of the gift shop is in order - I have always hated the "back stage" motif Disney used on it when they made it over for the release of the prequel trilogy. And for years I have thought that, since there are 4 speeders, addtional destinations could easily be added to the original Endor flight, which would infuse an older attraction with new life at a fraction of the cost of building a new attraction.

However, I still love the fabulous Ewok village, the unbelievable queue areas, and the ride itself. The only things I would change are the ride exit (it's a rather bland white corridor with a few Star Tours advertisement posters on the walls), and the hideous gift shop.

I love Star Wars and I love this ride. I admit, it's alot of sentimentality. I love
it at the end when you finally land safely and the guy comes out from behind
the counter where he dove for cover! :thumbsup2

Put me down for needs an update. It was a great ride when it came out, and being a Star Wars fan i couldn't wait to ride it. Now i ride it just because it's Star Wars but it really hasn't held up over the years...just feels very dated. :sad2:

Is this the simulator ride. Funny.......I rode all the big rides, and this one made me have motion sickness. No more star wars for me!!! :scared:

We love this ride and have some very special memories of it. My nephew was first on it when he was 4. Had a great time. Flash forward a few years. We are getting back on Star Wars. Get buckled in. The screen opens, and my nephew exclaims in horror "Oh, no, it's the same driver!":lmao: We had to explain to dear nephew that he was part of the ride.

We still laugh whenever we think of Star Wars.:goodvibes

I really liked it!

I rode it for the 1st time last May. I am terrified of roller coasters & other such scary rides & so I always avoided Star Tours. Well during our last trip I got up the nerve to ride it. After I rode it, I was like, "Why have I been so terrified of this ride all this time? It wasn't bad".

I love the Star Wars ride. I do wish there was two versions. Maybe one on each side. When we ride it a few times in a row my son can speak alon with the robot. Very annoying.
