Anyone else changing their vacation dates due to snow days changing end of school yr?

DD15's school was originally scheduled to be out before Memorial Day and I had originally planned to head down there on Memorial Day. I thought better of it and actually booked starting 6/1.

Glad I did, we have had 5 snow/ice/cold days so far, which is what they had "budgeted," however, they don't show that budget on the calendar. So her last day is now 5/29 and we leave on 5/31.

I am praying winter is over and we will be fine.

My kids school here in PA is going until June 17 as of now. They were suppose to get out on June 9th but we had 8 snow days so far. I booked our vacation and we are leaving on the 18th but before they got the teachers union to agree to make up two days at Easter break they were going to miss the last two days of school, as its in our schools teacher contract that all missed days will be made up at the end of the year. I always try to leave at least 5 days between scheduled last day and our trips but this year the snow days piled up quick. We have a cruise booked and its already PIF so we are going on the June 18 no matter what. They don't do much the last week of school here, they don't even let the middle school kids bring jackets or book bags the last few days of school.

I would check with the school before moving your dates.. Most time these are also not moved.. Things like that have to be set up months in advance unless it's a small school.. It has to be ok by the higher ups in the district, and so on..

Agree here. Every district / state is different. Our state kids have to test x days from last day. So when they extended the school year, they moved testing.

If the kids would just be doing busy work that added week, we'd still vacation. Enjoy the less busy less sticky time in FL

Here all the dates for finals and special year end stuff don't get set until we are out of snow season and they are certain of the last day of school. While I hope we are done with snow I'm not sure yet. Our last day of school is now scheduled for June 24. Our vacation is supposed to start June 28.

Our kids are in year round and they track out at noon on the 28th(yes,March). This week they announced make up day on the 29 th. We have has ressies at VGF in a studio stating the 29th for a week. There is no way we can change at this late date. It is only a half a day anyway so no change in plans for us.
