Big news for Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend!
Half Marathon, Marathon, and Goofy entries are available for the 2011 race! (The Half Marathon has already reached 50% of capacity.) Look for big news in June with a special email announcement about the Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by CIGNA. Visit disneyworldmarathon.com.

Oh yeah, I saw that. Wonder what the "big news" will be.

I'm guessing either a new course or a new medal design again. That really is just a guess though, I have no idea.

More importantly why cant I buy one of those in training bags. They look pretty cool and functional.

Equally importantly, why can't those of us who signed up months ago get one for being early to register?

It isn't only Disney that does this. So many times I get an email from an event I have already registered for with a discount code. It is cool for giving it to other people but doesn't really help me much.

The other thing it might be could be a new date, the princess is now in February. Not sure how much of the same crowd disney draws during marathon weekend and princess weekend, but I'd find it hard to justify 2 disney trips in 7 weeks. Maybe they want to get in with the Fall marathon rush (MCM, Philly, NYC, etc)? It just wouldnt make much sense to me, as without Marathon weekend that 2nd weekend in January would be empty.

My guess is that Disney is seeing a diminished interest in marathon weekend and is going to make some announcement that they hope will jumpstart registration. Personally, I think they have gotten overpriced; especially the half.
