Every system wide fare sales are until Nov, Dec etc for every city but Florida cities are constantly only until 9/29 - why is that?? I never remember that being a problem before. I already have my tickets, I am just waiting for it to drop from $79 to $49 like it has done 5+ times already up until 9/29 so I can change 2 one way tickets for my parents onb 10/9. They want to leave one day early now and I keep waiting for the fares to go back down again. Figures, I leave on Sept 30th :confused3 - one day AFTER all these sales.

Ugh - is anyone else annoyed

I just booked my flights on SW. I think I may have messed up. I got $84 each way before taxes. I've never gotten this cheap before for November. Do you think I should have waited? Do they offer $49 each way in November?

Just received an e-mail today that Orlando is a featured destination with promo fares through 12/12. Just booked STL-MCO for $88 pp 1 way. You may want to check this out. Fares are valid through 7/28.

I too have been watching these fares waiting for the Sept. 29th deadline to be extended. I am so fed up with this also. I just checked the website because of the previous post, but no DEAL for me STILL!! :confused3 I have been able to get a fare of $74 with the regular schedule booking form for a while. Now the special fare to Orlando is a whopping $6 per ticket cheaper($68 each way)! I guess I will have to keep on watching for SW to give a better rate. My friends got a ding rate of $35 each way from Raleigh to Orlando. I am looking for something like that!!

Its a waiting game. We found $49 fares last October when we went, but haven't found them yet for our return this October.

If you really want to up your anxiety, you can always download the DING software from SW and check it everytime it dings.

We are still waiting for fares cheaper than $79 (BWI-MCO) to purchase.

I booked this morning STL to MCO 11/8-13 for 413rt for two people. There were better fares earlier this year but with flight filling and the price of fuel, don't know if it will be much better.

hi leanne from ofallon...

yes, I did get a ding rate for $49 one way out of BWI and out of Philly w/ a ding rate and booked 8 flights total - since then nothing :sunny: . I booked them all but have to make some changes and I don't want to be charged more yet I am afraid they are going to book up :confused3

I rechecked again and still nothing - only until Sept 29th. What bothers me is that is ONLY for Florida - you can get the cheap rates elsewhere until Dec right now.

I look at it from SW's point of view. They want to fill as many of their seats as possible with people booking at the higher rates. Only when they know that won't happen, will they come out with the specials. If they have people that are willing to book for late fall at higher rates, why would they drop the price? I think they'll only do it once they've tapped the market for the higher rates.

As it is, though, without any specials, SW is cheaper than any other airline in the airports it serves.

We were scheduled to leave on 9/30. When I found out about the special, I quickly re-arranged my schedule to leave on 9/29.

Hi Hightown! I thought the same as you. Given that STL is not a competitive market, these fares were pretty good.

Me Too!!!!!! I'm waiting. What's killing me is we are leaving from Buffalo. AirTran just announced a Fall fare sales $59 ea way BUT there are NO non-stop flights.
I'm dying here. Do I get those? or wait for $49 SWA non-stops tickets for October dates. :confused3 One of the times we want to leave is "unavailable" now in Oct. at the 2 lowest rates. So it's either booking 1 stop ticket on the return or pay the upgrade in price for a non-stop flight. :(

What I see is the Florida ONLY fare sale on SWA is for flights Aug 18 - Sept 29 so I suspect not a drop in prices until AFTER August 18th. Does anyone else agree with that thinking?

Just checked SWA and there is a Featured Destination Special this week to Orlando!!!!
Fare Sale Aug 16 - Dec 12 travel

thanks for the featured destination prices - they actually aren't any cheaper for us here from BWI or Philly. Both still have $79 one way. Oh well, I am glad I got the $49 when I had a chance - I will probably go ahead and pay the $30 more to switch the one way flight.

thanks

Did you see the thread I posted about Southwest fares from BWI...about the $64 Promotional fare? I only see the $79 fare on the list, but when I put our dates in and click book now, it shows the $64 fare. If you read my thread you'll see I'm trying to decide if it's the right thing for us to do... I want to know if anyone else sees that $64 fare too!

Good luck!

yes, I would book now - I see the rates too - you can always go back online and cancel and rebook with no penalties if the price goes lower. $49 is the lowest I have ever seen and it is rare. $59 ot $64 is the norm for the "best" rates. Book now while you still have the openings.

Oh wait, I think I misunderstood...I thought you were still looking for a lower fare than $79 (so that's why I wanted you to see the $64 one that I'm looking at), but it looks like you got a DING deal of $49, right? Lucky you! I keep getting DINGed but it's always just up until November 17th.
