Anyone else "afraid" to get rid of their clothes that are now too big???

I've lost 29 1/2 pounds since June 1st, have gone down 2 sizes, and now ALL of my clothes are WAY too big. Some clothes are comically too big (I look like I'm wearing clown clothes. lol) and some are just somewhat too big and are still wearable until I buy new items.

And now that summer is just about over, I REALLY want to bag up all of my shorts and capris and donate them, instead of packing them away for the winter. I have a lot of nice shorts that I just bought in the beginning of the summer that I've hardly worn because of my weight loss and also because I just didn't have the chance to wear them much.

Are any of you having a hard time letting go of your clothes that are now too big?? I do NOT want to think that these clothes will ever fit me again. lol

I think I just need some encouragement to let go of these clothes.... So please tell me to bag those babies up and donate them!!!

P.S. I really could use that extra space in my closet, too!

P.P.S. We're going on a Caribbean cruise in 4 weeks so I can't get rid of ALL of my summer clothes, but many of them are so huge that I won't bringing them with me on the cruise anyway, and I did buy new clothes for the cruise, so it's not like I really need these particular clothes for the cruise... :scratchin

WOW, GREAT JOB!!!:cheer2:

I have lost just a little more than you but that is since the new year.

I was having a problem but then something clicked and I am ready. Besdies I am scared I will gain it back but if I don;t have the clothes to wear I can't gain it (HOPEING) I have a bunch to give to friends if they want in my truck for a week now. I have been looking around to see what size fits and slowly buying a few things. I am not to my final goal and don't want to over do it until then.

Go and give it away. When I was doing Weight Watchers that was one of their suggestions. Also that way if you don't have any bigger clothes if you start gaining it back you will notice and get back on track. You don't want to go out and buy anther pair of pants just cause you gained it back.

Congrats on losing the weight and keep up the good work.

GET RID OF THEM!!! I have been selling my "fat" clothes on ebay, thereby forcing myself to keep on track (no fat clothes to go back to) and make some $$$ for my other addiction, cruising and Disney!!!:lmao: Remember, your loss (VERY GOOD BY THE WAY:thumbsup2 ) can be a gain for someone else (the clothes) and you (the money made selling them!).

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! :) Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to bag up ALL of my too-big clothes and then send an email to "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" to schedule a pick-up. They come right to the house and pick up the bags of clothes for donation, so all I have to do is put them on my back porch. Doesn't get any easier than that, does it. lol

I definitely have to replace a lot of my clothing but I'm not at my goal either (or even close to it) so I'm going to just buy some basic pieces in my current size, and go from there. :)

I have very gladly been giving up clothes that are too big right along. I don't want to bother with something like Ebay--it seems like it would be a hassle to do something like that. The really large clothes generally I had worn a long time, and wouldn't have been sellable. Those went to Goodwill weeks ago. One of the workers at my son's aftercare at school works with a charity that gives clothes to a battered women's center, and she asked me if I would give some clothes to them. So, they are getting all the "in-betweens"; these are generally decent clothes that I wore to go to work during the summer. Most were relatively inexpensive, and I had just enough clothes to have something to wear that fit. I had 2 pair of size 12 pants and 2 of size 10, for example. Most of the time, with a little adjustment (and a belt), I have been extending the amount of time I can wear something.

This past weekend, I finally got new underwear. Apparently, I wear a very unusual bra size. Generally, I can't just go into any store and find something my size. Bali, for example, has two styles that come in my size, and one is the Flower bra that looks to me like a torture device from the 50's. So, I bought the minimizer. Which leads me to wonder why anybody would ever have augmentation to get to the size that I wear. Don't get me wrong--I wouldn't have a reduction. I am close enough to my goal weight that what I've purchased should be adjustable to fit; I actually got the size that I remember wearing when I was at goal weight in the past. It is amazing what a difference good underwear makes, though. It is just so much more comfortable, and my clothes look so much better.

delilah, you've given me a good idea; I'm going to take all of the clothes that I bought within the last couple of months and which are like brand-new and donate them directly to a women's shelter. The rest will go to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. :)

I'm not an eBay person either. I've never bought or sold anything on there. I just don't have an interest in it. :confused3
