We're leaving on June 9th. I've checked the state trans. depts., but I'm looking for real-life experience. Still trying to decide between going through GA or AL. Anyone?

Your question has been the subject of past discussions. Most people do the I-75 route via Atlanta, using the I-285 bypass of Atlanta if rush hour is involved and always using the I-475 bypass at Macon. However, there are a core of people who prefer I-65 through Alabama to Montomery and then US 231 from Montgomery to Cottondale, FL and I-10.

I've done both. US231 goes through small towns with lower speed limits and traffic lights (and southern cops). The bypass around Dothan is also one traffic light after another. So I prefer the Georgia routing. If you want some variety then do one route on the way down and the other on the way back home.

No No No - dont go through Alabama - it seems to be speedy but then you are in FL FOREVER.

Much faster to go through Atlanta AND stay on I75 -- we have only found the bypass to add time to our trips - generally speaking we get through Atlanta ok.
