Anyone drive from Maryland to WDW???

Last year we left MD about 8pm after dinner and with dvd's loaded in the car. Our boys 2 and 4 then, slept through the night and dh and I split driving. We go to Jacksonville, had breakfast and were in Orlando in our room by 11am.

This time we are flying, it will be a first for our little boys so we are looking forward to that.

We drove back during the day last time and it took a full two days, ugg!
Next time we drive it will be done in the night and return at nighttime as well.

Have a great road trip!

Aren't you exhausted when you arrive?? Our friends here in MD leave around 2 a.m. and get in around 4 that afternoon with two switching off driving. Seems too exhausting to me.

We're also in Harford County & have been going to Disney for many years. Most years we fly Southwest out of BWI because it is so much easier. This year -- I'm not sure whether we'll drive or fly. Flights have been running $88 one way - today they are up to $119! We are thinking about driving but we have 4 drivers now so...

The last time we drove down we left our area around 8p and drove to just below Richmond. Stopped for the night and left the area around 12noon (slow starters in the morning). We then drove the rest of the way to the DTD area and stayed at the Hampton Inn. Got up early the next day to check in and head to the parks!

The ride home was a little rough - we had a full day shopping at DTD and left the area around 3P. I made a wrong turn and we ended up in Daytona. Well, you know what that meant! We checked out the race track and the beach - a few hours later we were back on the road. We kept saying we were going to stop but the few places we inquired were full. We ended up driving straight through and got home around 8am. Talk about exhausted!

If we drive this year we'll get up early and drive straight through for the ride down. We'll spend an extra night in Orlando and drive straight through again.
Good luck on your decision!

We are going to be moving to the DC area this coming Aug and we are really looking forward to driving down to WDW on our next trip, hopefully in Nov. It will be nice to save the $1000 we have to pay to fly from here to FL.

We've also done it from NW Baltimore County. We leave around 4 am, hit Dunkin Donuts and get on the road. We generally stop for the night somewhere at the S.C. / GA border and then do the rest the next day after breakfast.

Have fun!

We both work that day as well, so yes we are tired. But we do sleep in shifts when we drive. He drove to NC while I napped and he slept most of the night from NC-GA/FL. I could have napped in the morning but was too excited. It made for a rough mid day, but a freshen up in the pool and an early night makes for good sleep.

I am used to sleepless nights because of being a nurse, but being at WDW makes it all worth it!

The next time we drive down we will leave the parks and get a head start back as well.
