Anyone done the Picnic in the Park at AK yet?

If so, how was it? How much seating was available? Did you have to go far after you picked up your food to find a table? Was there a long line, either when you ordered or when you picked up your food? Looking for reviews.

From what I've read about it, it doesn't sound that appealing. What I understand is that you get a certain lunch and you can't vary from that. My family and I have totally different likes when it comes to food, so that would never work...

That's interesting. They have many options with entrees, sides, and desserts that should appeal to just about everyone. I think that it looks great, and affordable!

Menu:

Tier one choices are Turkey focaccia, chicken wrap, ham grinder or tuna pita.
Sides: Chips, coleslaw, corn medley, green beans, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, orzo pasta, oven roasted potato wedges, seasonal fruit salad, tomato and cucumber salad.
Desserts: Apple, Brownie, Cookie, Cornbread, Crisped rice treat, orange

Tier 2 Rotisserie chicken or ham
Same choices for sides and desserts.
No substitutions.

I had no problems at all picking up my order. I got the maps and forks and knives. I disagree about the sides. If you are sharing with 3 people they are small.

safetymom- did you think the sandwiches were premade long before pickup? we they at all soggy from mayo/sauce and how was the bread? I get weird about premade and keep watching for feed back. TIA
eta- oops never mind I see you got chicken. Was it all good and hot by the time you sat? You didnt say much about taste?

Somewhere I read that they sell the tote bags for $3 in some of the park gift shops. We probably won't do the picnic, but I'm absolutely going to be keeping my eye out for that bag to replace the grocery store resuable I keep on DD's stroller.
