Hi all!
Just wondering if anyone has gone to the evening campfire/movie/sing-a-long at Fort Wilderness campground. We will be staying at POP, but I heard that any resort guest may go. We are going in late Nov/early Dec, do they even do it at this time of year? Was it fun and worthwhile? Do Chip and Dale show, or any character? How expensive are the marshmallows and roasting sticks? Better off to bring your own? Are the movies always cartoons, or "real" people movies too? So many questions! I thought this might be a fun way to add a little more activity to the day we go to AK, since it closes early. Thanks for any info you can provide! :smickey:

We have done this in Nov. So yes it is still going on then. We had a great time and it was alot of fun! There was a sing a long and Chip and Dale do show up. The movies aren't always cartoons, we saw Freaky Friday. They have the list of days/times/shows at FW or WL. We were staying at WL when we went. They sell marshmellos, sticks and Hershey chocolate bars and drinks too. I really don't remember how much it all was, but I do remember thinking it was cheap! They sell a whole pack together and it was enough for the 4 of us. It is set up so nicely and organized. I remember being pleasantly surprised when we got there! Definately worth it IMHO!!!

We were just there last weekend and my 4 kids, even the 11-year-old boy had a great time. It's very relaxed. Two fires are lit on either side of the screen. Anyone can then roast marshmellows and make 'smores. About half and hour later, a woman comes out and stands on a small "stage" next to the screen and entertains the crowd. She introduces Chip and Dale, who walk around the crowd meeting people, and the woman leads everyone in about 6 or 7 sing-alongs. We didn't stay for the movie because the 2-year-old needed sleep.

It was a cute, relaxing, family time and I recommend it.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The movie and entertainment are free, but there is a fee for the marshmellows and sticks if you choose to purchase them.

might be a good choice for our "down" day. Is there a restaurant to eat dnr at first?

thanx

OH and would it be hard to get to from CBR?

Hi Lisa,

Probably the best way to get there is by taxi, or from a boat from the Magic Kingdom. The boats to Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness are situated between the monorail entrance and the large boats for the parking lot. It's a short boat ride with a nice view.

There is a small buffet restaurant called Trail's End which has pretty good food and is priced very reasonably. If you have picky eaters in the group there are also some kid items you can order a-la-carte. There's also Crocket's Tavern right next door which sells drinks and snacks. I've never been there so I can't offer an opinion. There's always the Hoop-de Doo Review which is fantastic, but might not work time-wise with the camp fire. This area of Fort Wilderness is called the Settlement. This is also where the petting zoo and pony rides are. Once at the Fort Wilderness campground you'll need to take one of the Fort's internal busses to the campfire. It won't be hard to find-just ask any of the drivers. You could walk, too, depending on how tired everyone is.

Have fun.

I would like to do the Hoop-de Doo Review as well as the camp fire.....do they have more then one Hoop-de Doo Review a night and if so what time should I make ressie for Hoop-de Doo Review? Would i bebetter of making the trip to FW twice.....one just for Hoop-de Doo Review and one for the camp fire and movie and maybe dinner at trails end? Is the camp fire a far walk from Hoop-de Doo Review? Is there anyway I could see a list of what movies they show what nights? GODDNESS I asked a lot of questions sorry ;)

I'm pretty sure that the time for the campfire is not always the same. I think it is at 8:00 for part of the year and 7:00 for others. Hoop de doo is almost at 5:00, 7:15, and, sometimes, 9:30. If the campfire is at 7:00, you should be able to make it if you go to the 5:00 show, although it could be tight. It's about a 15 minute walk, I understand, or a quick bus ride, but you have to wait for the right bus.

Thanks for the info too! I love when I don't have to ask a question to get the answer I need! DD loves Chip and Dale since we got her a DVD of them and would love this!
