Hi all,

We are booked on a Royal Caribbean sailing from Fort Lauderdale in January. Considering booking the Disney Dream for the 3 days prior but not sure of the logistics of side-to-side cruises and would love to hear if anyone has done this before? How easy is it to move between terminals? Is there anything I need to consider carefully? We will have a three year old in tow.

Thanks!

I've had clients do side by side cruises before, and it really just depends which terminal your ships are sailing from. Some are close enough together to walk, but I believe DCL and RCCL are further apart. The good news is there are plenty of taxis available to shuttle you. Last time I checked it was a flat rate of $8 to go from terminal to terminal.

At Ft. Lauderdale, the easiest option is to take a taxi from one port to the other. There's no public transit or walkway from the Disney to Royal terminals.

We did that this summer, but at Port Canaveral. Our plan was to take an Uber from 1 port to the next, and that is what we did, however we got a bit of a surprise. Upon disembarking and trying to book the Uber it was in the area of $70.00-$80.00. We also came across another family trying to do the same thing, with the same results. We hung around outside for a while and the price did go down. I think we ended up getting it for around $40.00, which was still more than we had expected for a few minute ride, but more reasonable. Besides that it worked out great, and by doing RCCL second there was no issue with us arriving early. We were on board at 10:14 am.

Thanks for the help everyone! We actually changed our Royal Caribbean sailing to a 3-day itinerary then added 4 days on the Dream immediately after. If we have a car, I presume we can just drive between terminals when we move ships? We have hired a car and are driving down from WDW.
