Going to see a doctor soon and am wondering if anyone on the dis has had a hysterectomy with a tummy tuck at the same time? Not positive if that is what is going to have to happen - (hysterectomy), but my grandmother, aunt and mother have had to have it done, so just trying to prepare. What was your experience like, having them both done at the same time?

I've only had the tummy tuck. If I were you, and it was ok with my doctor, I would get the pain and discomfort over with and do both at the same time. (I had a TT and breast augmentation done at the same time for that reason).

That's what I was thinking. I know more and more women are having both done together. It seems like most doctors are suggesting or at the very least - accepting this much more. Another 'plus' is that the anesthesia would be covered by insurance. Are you happy with the work you had done?

I had it done last Oct. I also had a hernia repair done at the same time. All I can say is that it was painful butthe muscle cramps were the worst. I was in the hospital with the pain pump and I could feel the pain meds working but they didn't help until they gave me a muscle relaxant. I had a major tummy tuck though. If you don't need that much taken off, I would think it would be easier. My stomach is still numb from my belly button to the incision(bikini line). I would do it again but not with a 1 year old and a 2 year old that I had at the time. Couldn't pick them up for about 4 weeks per Dr's orders. That may have been due to the hernia repair. Good luck and if you have any ??, let me know.

I'm having a hysterectomy in about 6 weeks and was asking myself this same question! I've got quite the little pooch after having my kids and no matter how much I exercise, it won't go down.

Does anyone know about how much a tummy tuck costs?

It really depends on what section of the country you live in. Anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000. Pretty big price differences from what I've seen.

I'm extremely happy with my results. I'm 5.5 weeks post op, and I had a mini-tuck with muscle repair. The first two weeks were very uncomfortable, particulary due to the drains I had. The end of week two was probably the turning point for me when I started to feel better. Mine cost around $4500. Prices vary per region, and how much work you have to have done, for example if you have muscle repair or lipo with the tuck. I am so happy I had it done. Recovery isn't a picnic, but the end results are SO worth it. Here's a GREAT website where you can learn everything you wanted to know about tummy tucks (and other cosmetic procedures). There is a message board for pre and post op women. There are a lot of great ladies there that are more than happy to offer advice!

Never had it done but sounds good to me. At least you will come out lookng better than when you went in and I am guessing that you will lose weight too.

Boy when I think if it look at what a supperficial society we have turned into....but sorry I just cannot help it...it is better to look good than to feel good. If I was going to suffer through a hystorectomy...I darn well would want to find a silver lining.

Your post is confusing. Are you trying to agree w/ a tummy tuck or disagree. It seems like 1/2 and 1/2.

At any rate, I think 'my' silver lining to having to go under for hysterectomy absolutely would be to have it combined with a tummy tuck.
