Anyone doing Chip & Dale and staying at a monorail resort?

I am wondering if those of us doing the second leg really have to do the whole shuttle bus thing so very early in the morning. Shouldn't it be possible to just walk across the parking lot in front of the Poly and get into our switch-off corrals. My husband, who is doing the first leg, is in one of the last corrals and it will take him over 3 hours to finish so I am not thrilled about being on a 4am bus to take me back where I started from to hang around for 5+ hours.
Any thoughts on this?

If you read the final instructions you can see that while not specifically saying yes, they are not ruling out what you are suggesting. In fact they mention that R#2 can hang around the Retreat until as late as 7 before catching a monorail.

I would still plan on getting there an hour early to work around any delays, etc that you may encounter.

Thanks for the input. I read the final instructions and find them very confusing. They mention something about taking a bus or monorail from Epcot to MK. That would be 2 monorails in my book, unless of course they really mean TTC which makes a whole lot more sense to me. Is Simba the old Pluto lot?

I agree that they could use a better writer for most material published recently.

If taking a monorail from Epcot to the relay, one would walk from the TTC to the relay point. I do not think that Disney wants folks trying to walk from the TTC up course and as a participant, neither do I since the tram tunnel can be crowded on the spectator side of the fence and if it gets too crowded it could spill onto the course. Also, my brother was prevented from going past the Tram tunnel last year due to the crowding.

So the walk from the TTC to the relay point should use the cross walk used in my map. It is less likely to be crowded, and less likely to have security folks turning people around.

Finally, yes, the old Pluto lot if now a Simba lot. I am not sure when that occurred but I am thinking it will always be Pluto in my mind.

I am runner #2 as well and although we are staying at the Boardwalk, I am planning to take the monorail to the Poly and hang out there until DH gets close. I will then just walk over to the exchange area.

I agree with Coach about TTC not being a good place for people to try to access the exchange point. In my mind, I was thinking they could take the walkway to the Poly and then cross the little bridge in the back of their parking lot. That would actually get you to Simba quicker than getting off at the main Poly stop.

I think the Poly Lobby will be a little crowded, especially if the weather turns bad

Coach Is the walkway across the street obvious if you are coming from the parking lot towards Poly? Is it signed? I was thinking that after I finish leg #1, I will walk over to TTC and take the monorail to Epcot (as an option to taking the bus, which may be crowded, not leave when I want and trafficky) Plus, there is the added lure of a good cup of coffee and maybe even some Tonga Toast!

I am not sure as I have not actually walked the crosswalk. Coming from the Parking Lot, it seems like a simple find. You would walk north, hugging the fence to the west or left. Once past the treed canal just north of the exchange area, the parking lot opens up. As long as you stick kind of close to the fence you should see the gate. It will be near where the last parking row starts.

From the driver's perspective, the crosswalk is marked with lines and speed bumps from either direction.

The little bridge is pedestrian only. It is not hard to find at all. Go all the way to the back of the Poly lot halfway between TTC and the main building. You will see it easily. It is my understanding that it is primarily used as an employee parking lot for Poly CMs. I have used it several times when I volunteered for marathon events as the old Pluto lot was a checking in place for many of the waterstop workers.

I will have a room at the Poly and would be willing to accommodate any fellow WISHers should the lobby get too crowded.

Steve and I are staying at the Poly. He's doing the 2nd leg. He's just going to walk over there as you suggested. Disney said it was OK. You can just hang with him and wait on us slow pokes.

Cool! John is doing the first leg, so I may be the very last person to start the second leg! At least I'll be doing part of the wait with good company. I think John R and Jim W are also doing the second leg.
