We had always planned on just staying at Disney after the wedding for about 5 or 6 more days. Recently I have been thinking it might be nice to go somewhere the two of us have never been and just relax for a few days. Jamaica or the Bahamas may sound pretty good after a year of stressful planning!! :sunny: Anyone else doing a non-disney honeymoon or thinking about it??? Just curious.

we opted for the fancy wedding and not so fancy honeymoon...

disneyland wedding

vegas mini-moon (although we stayed at the Wynn!)

We're going to Hawaii after our DFTW. Alot of people we know assumed that we'd be staying at Disney for our honeymoon, but after almost a week there with our families, I just didn't consider that a romantic honeymoon. Plus, as much as I love WDW, I wanted to go somewhere that we could just relax. Beach. Pina Colada. Mmmmm.... :sunny:

We stayed a further 2 days after our Disney wedding and then went to Clearwater for 2 days, St.Pete's beach for 4 days, and back to Disney for our last night before returning home (I needed a last 'fix' !!).
St.Pete's was lovely! So relaxing. I loved it there.

We are also going to Hawaii afterwards. We plan on staying in Disney a week (a few days before the wedding and few after). Then, we are headed to Maui for a week and then a Hawaiian cruise for another week. We will be gone about 3-4 weeks in its entirety. As much as I LOVE Disney, I also wanted something different for my honeymoon. I wanted something beachy, warm, tropical, etc. I especially wanted a place where I could just sit back and relax...something I NEVER do when I am at Disney.

We are planning to spend a couple days with the families after the wedding and then 5 days in St. Lucia for just the two of us :)

DF is "in charge" of the honeymoon, but I've been dropping some very heavy hints about Greece. I think it would be a great idea to follow up your DFTW trip with some REAL honeymoon time!

We're thinking about spending a few days at Disney after the wedding, and then headed off to the Caribbean. We want to get one of those little 'houses' that are on a dock in what looks like the middle of the ocean. :)

We should have stayed at WDW! We went to Sandals Antigua. A "supposed" five star resort. It was horrible. Just horrible. I will NEVER go to a Sandals resort again! :sad2:

We had an Intimate, so we had to use those 4 room nights and we figured in the interest of saving money, since we had just bought a house, we would just have a short Disneymoon, but we both wanted a "real" honeymoon, away somewhere, no friends or family, just the two of us. We were able to get a great deal on a cruise to Mexico for a week, so after 3 nights in Disney we were supposed to head for our cruise. Hurricane Wilma had other ideas! But it worked out much better than expected, we got put on a different cruise (to the Bahamas), upgraded 6 cabin levels, and got on-board credit! It was perfect!!

We're going to try the Mexico cruise again for our one-year anniversary - pray for no hurricanes :sad2:

Wow ladies -- thanks for sharing all of your plans and experiences!!! We are still undecided on what to do!!

Honeibee~ sorry to hear about your experience with Sandals, unfortunately this is not the first time I have heard a complaint about them.

JandJ~ The cruise sounds like it turned out wonderfully and I will definitely be praying for no hurricanes this time.

We are on a budget so we are leaning towards just staying at Disney, but if we do go somewhere it will only be for about 3 nights and we are thinking the Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. Anybody heard any pros/cons about this place??? Our wedding is on 12/18 and we at least want to stay in Disney for a few days, so if we left it would be on the 21st and we have to be home for Christmas so we would have to come home on the 24th.
As much as I would like to go somewhere else for a few days, with our time restraints, it may be easier to just stay put at Disney instead of wasting 2 days just traveling -- what do you think???

 HI there!! I don't really fit into this thread, but I do a little bit, and since I LOVE to talk about my honeymoon this works!! ;)

We are getting married at a Vineyard in Oregon and then we are doing 8 days in WDW and then we are doing a 7 day cruise to St.Thomas/St. Maarten. I am SO incredibly ready for the honeymoon, I am so over the wedding...OVER IT...want to be done. I am convinced that every vendor we are working with is out to take us for every penny we have. SOOOO...YAY honeymoon!!! I saw the Wilderness Lodge on Great Hotels on the Travel channel this morning!! That place is SPECTACULAR...it's time to start "project convince DF that we need to stay at WL for the honeymoon..." :rotfl: FAT CHANCE, but oh I would LOVE IT!!!

hope everyone is doing well and having fun and not stressing too much!! :wizard: princess:

We are going to Disney a week before the wedding, staying a couple of days after then off the the Riviera maya in mexico for some R&R on the beach 9margaritas in tow) and some fun cultural excursions (all those pyramids...I am an architectural history buff) and some adventure tours like a jungle tour....I can't wait
