Last year I got a bunch of paper (wrapping) for .50-$1 . I did are whole xmas in this paper and I still have some left. I want to get some more for next year. When does it go down to that cheap?

I always buy the gift rap, bows, ribbon. I also buy some decorative things and boxed cards. I love when it all gets down to 75% off or even 90% off. I purchased an adorable pre-lit little pink tree for my daughter's roon a couple of years ago for $2.

Am I the only one here, that refuses to go to Walmart for any reason.

I temporarily lost my mind and went there Christmas eve while DH did some shopping in another store in the same mall. The lines in the food area were at least 20 people deep and they never moved. I ended up just leaving my cart, half full of food right there. I went to my local Publix, it was very crowded, but efficient. Was out in 10 minutes. I just don't understand the appeal of Walmart.

You are not. I boycotted Walmart for 2 years. Now when I go it is at 7a to 8am, they are never crowded at that time. But I only go like every 2 to 3 months. We have the commissary and the px that price match so I will pick up Walmart ads to compare. I am excited we are moving to Germany and they do not have Walmarts..woo hoo! But I am sure they have an "evil" equivalent.

do you remember how long it typically takes to go down that much?

It depends on the individual store. When others were reporting their local Walmart stores were 90% off on Halloween items, my local Walmart was still at 50% off. It took over 3 weeks for my local Walmart to get to 90% off on Halloween items.

I do like hitting the after Christmas markdowns but not sure I am going to go this year. I still have tons of paper from previous trips and bows and boxes. I have been trying to thin out our collection of ornaments.

Although I may hit Lowes and see if they have any inflatables left and how far they've been marked down....

Yeah, everybody stops in front of our house to look at what we've put out...
This year it's Snoopy in his Sopwith Camel, Snoopy and Charlie Brown with the Doghouse as a snow maker, Santa and reindeer in a Globe and Frosty the snowman...need a train...

Yep. My mom has a small Wal-Mart in her town, and she's always finding stuff for 75-90% off (helps that her good friend works there and calls when they're doing a round of mark-downs;)). I live in a larger town with two huge Wal-Marts, and I'm lucky to find 30-50% off clearance.

I think her store is in a hurry to clear stuff out to put out new merchandise, while my giant stores just shuffle things around and are fine with letting holiday stuff sit in the back of the store for another month.

I ran today to Walmart (even though I swore I wasn't leaving the house today, but my boys needed snow boots for the snow that is coming).

I picked up some stuff...a lot wasn't even ringing up 50% so I had to watch. I got some fleece blankets for $2.50....LED lights for $4.99....cake decorating stuff and gift tags. They really had a lot of purfume left, but nothing much else.

We had the same problem. Most were not ringing up 1/2 price (even the fleece blankets - same prints were ringing up $2.5- sometimes and $5.00 others).
