I don't understand how it works exactly. I registered with basic information, but am wondering how it works when I go grocery shopping. Do I need to register my debit card with them for it to work?

Any advice is welcome!

For grocery shopping, if your store participates, it's usually through their savings card and when you buy participating brands. When you register credit/debit cards (debit cards need to be processed as credit transactions to qualify), savings are generally earned by using them at specific locations. For example, I use my debit card as a credit transaction at a Mobile gas station to earn savings. Another example is online shopping. You must go to the Upromise website and then click on a participating store and shop that way with a registered credit card. I have the Upromise toolbar downloaded so if I click on a site that participates, a little bar will pop up telling me what my Upromise savings will be if I shop. Hopefully this little bit of info helps.

We have saved over $1,700 in 6 years! :thumbsup2 Amazing! Our biggest contributor is our citibank credit card. Please note that grocery $$ is one of our smallest contributors! That was surprising to me. Web shopping, travel (avis etc.) and the Citibank card are the biggest.

One time there was an offer to turn American Airline miles into points. I stopped business travel when I had kids and this was a great way to use my miles (that weren't enough to get a full ticket)

**The site has places to register your grocery cards and credit/debit cards. As long as you swipe them at the grocery store, you will be given the $$.

Good luck!

Make sure you register credit cards, debit cards, cvs cards, grocery cards and exxon cards also download the tool bar. I get most of my $$$ from online purchases, with the toolbar you won't miss out on anything. I have a little over $700 from the last 5 years. Free money is Free money.

Thanks!

I agree- free money is free money!

My family never had $ to give me for college. I had to do it all on my own. Great learning experience, but I'm still paying for it.

My boys have the Florida Prepaid Program, courtesy of their grandma. It will pay for their tuition if they go to a Fl state program. However, you know that there are more expenses than tuition! I, too, had tuition paid for by a scholarship, but I still took out loans for living expenses (so I wouldn't have to work much).

So I think it's a great program! Every little bit helps!

We use it also. One other thing I haven't seen mentioned is having grandparents register their credit cards also.

I have never purposely bought something just because of U-promise, but we have still made some money. Every bit helps!!

I registered all my credit and store cards. We have about $300 and my DD is almost 3. Maybe it will by her a book by the time she goes!!!

Most of my money is from online purchases. My MIL is the big online person - she registered her cards also!
