Anyone concerned about rising cases in Florida?

Hello! I’m interested in starting a conversation about how Florida’s climbing Covid cases might affect Disney operations this summer/fall. I’ve broached the topic in other Covid related threads, but as my comments were deleted in some of those, I gather the moderators didn’t feel I was staying on topic for those threads. So thought I’d start my own thread.

I’m very concerned with the 10k new cases reported today, as well as the 20% test positive rate. I know conventional wisdom would be, if you’re concerned, don’t go. But all of my loved ones live in Florida—parents, siblings, grandparents, in laws—so I’m just genuinely concerned about Florida in general. I live just north of NYC, in Westchester, and we just had a horrible time with this thing.

Anyway, anyone else concerned about the rising cases? Is it making you change your plans? We were supposed to go in August with the whole extended family and are now trying to figure out when we might reschedule for.

I would like to say im not worried but I am in Texas and I have the same worries walking outside....
We are not worried about our October trip.
After talking to my sons doctor he has told us do not go anywhere people are not wearing mask. Every where we are going people are being policed into wearing mask... airport, rental car, Disney repeat in reverse. So for us there will not be any venturing out of the resort. We are renting a car this time so we are not taking the bus.

Frankly, we are terrified about abut the increasing infection rate in Florida, and the governor’s cavalier attitude toward public health and safety.

We have been hanging on to our late November 2020 reservations, adjusting our attitudes and expectations at every turn. Initially, no fireworks and mask-wearing would have been deal breakers for our trip, but we would accept these conditions in exchange for a chance to be in the park with lowered crowds. Water parks have always been huge part of our trips, and it seems unlikely that those will even open. None the less, we would still make the trip under those conditions.

HOWEVER, the lack of common sense and the politicalization of safety measures... really???? It breaks our hearts to see our southern neighbours (we are Canadian) in the current state, with this deadly virus spreading. We have family on your side of the border, and not a day goes by when we don’t worry about them, particularly those who live in Texas.

We had hoped/expected, to be admiring a shining US example of successful virus containment and their plans to prevent a resurgence. No delving into politics here, but it is both disappointing and frightening to see the reality.

Take care and be safe, everyone. We hope to share the magic again, sometime. Seems likely that our November 2020 dream is quickly disappearing.
