Hi folks , we have 3 of these pictures .

The guy who sold them to us on various visits told us were only available in the animation gallery store at MGM(he was one of the artists)

1. Character class - Framed picture , signed authenticty certificate and pin(which guy who sold us picture said was rare).

2. Studio Stories - Framed picture, signed certificate and pin again.

3. Surfs Up - Framed Picture, certificate and pin.

My question is can anyone tell me where i can find more info on this collection, how big it is etc and if able to buy pics from elsewhere without going to gallery.

Cheers Paul.

Ps Also hooked on collecting pins we have around 300 .
My dw and i just pick ones we like usually LE or USA ones , we dont trade,
just go for the ones we like , daughter has now assumed ownership of them.

The cels are shown on this page from the disney gallery site:
http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x80561a762&varPage=info

They are released periodically by Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) in limited quantities until sold out. When i was there in May 08, I snapped a picture of the currently available cels in the DHS Animation Gallery store.
Unfortunately I don't know how to attach a photo here of it. It did show that Surf's Up was $125 Unframed, $215 w/ black frame, $240 w/ blk frame and pin and $290 w/ gold frame and pin. Studio Stories listed for $110 unframed, $200 blk frame, $225 blk frame w/ pin and $275 gold frame w/ pin. Character Class was no longer available, but you should be able to get an idea of it's cost.

Thank you for your help , i was struggling to find any info online the link is brilliant.:thumbsup2

The three we have have the gold frames,

Will purchase one for my dw for christmas as she likes them, just dont know which one to get.............

happy shopping!

I started collecting them about 2 years ago. I have about 8 of them. They are great because they are limited edition. Do you remember the artist that you spoke to?

The artists name was David Rippberger , he seems to be there everytime we go in................:thumbsup2 (seems a really nice guy)

I dont know if he is resident there or we just seem to lucky that he seems to be there .

We still have room for plenty more on our walls in the house:cool1: .

Which ones do you have if that is not too prying, and which one is your favourite mine is character class.

Thanks again Babette for the further links , choices choices, i would buy them all if i could get away with it

We set off for four days in Disneyland Paris next week,i am going to have a look in the galleries there for any cels (doubtful mind you but you never know)

Paul.

I buy which ever ones I think are the best (which are most of them). There was a Little Mermaid one that came out last December that I didn't like too much, so I didn't get it. I only get the ones with black frames, and some of them I couldn't get the pins, but I prefer the pins in the framing.

David seems to be the only one there. He is great because he will answer any question. He even told me back in April what was coming up (Dumbo and a Mickey one). His wife Lynn is an artist there as well. They both sign the outer ends of the postcards.

I have:

Checking In (2004, Mickey checking into Tower of Terror) without pin - this is a cell that they are still making (that is what David told me) because it is popular.

All Mixed Up (2005, Doppy) with pin

Studio Romance (2006) with pin

Pirates Life (2007)

Gala Premier (2007) with pin

Off to Neverland (2008) with pin

Dumbo (2008) with pin

I did order the one that was just released a couple weeks ago and I still haven't gotten it :(

Hopefully DL Paris has some.

Hi everyone. I live in the UK and have two Character class framed pictures (gold frame). I purchased one in 2006 and one last month at MGM Florida. My question is how can I purchase more from the UK. Can I call MGM and get one posted? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have Genius at Work, 1996; Lights, Camera, Action, 2001 and Character Class, 2003. Our son also has some of the earlier ones. We really like the ones that were done mainly in black and white with little color in black frames. Hopefully, they will paint some of these again. We visit with David each year and he is so helpful, not only about the pictures, but about all collectibles in the gallery. A trip wouldn't be complete without visiting with David, our favorite employee of WDW! :thumbsup2

When in the store sign up for the mailings. They send a post card to you with the next release. If you order the art before the release date you get a post card signed print with all the artists signatures.

Just call the number and order with a credit card.

David is the only one who sits in the store to paint the others (Including his wife Lynn) paint in other areas. Lynn and one other lady paint in the glass rooms in the back.

David is such a good salesmen, he could convience an eskimo to buy ice.

I currently have 15 on my wall including the new Alice in Wonderland that was released this month.

Don't bother tudur, the shipping alone is $100.00, THEN you get done on import tax because they wont mark it down, or send as a gift.:scared1:
You'll end end paying twice what it's worth, might as well buy a flight to Florida and pick one up!
Either that or wait for someone you know who's going out there to get one for you.

Fantasmic art will be released in Dec. I got my post card in yesterday.

Yeah:yay::woohoo:
