anyone called to testify btwn family members?

There has been a major war going on with my family since Jan (I believe thats when it started). My 42yr brother bit my mother! Mother had him ordered out of the house. There was a restraining order on him against all family members which has since been lifted. My brother & I were emailing back in Jan before the order - he printed them all out to show his court appointed lawyer.
Brother called last night and said I will be called to testify July 27. There are points on both sides that I agree with (obviously there is NEVER any reason to bite someone!) Has anyone been called to testify btwn 2 family members? How did it go?

OMG, he bit her! Never been to court with any family member's. Maybe you could take the 5th!

You can't take the 5th. That's only to prevent from incriminating yourself.

While I haven't been called for other people, I had to testify against my soon to be ex in our restraining order hearing. It's very difficult. The person who you love (in your case, 2 of them) are right there and you know they don't see things the way you do.

And be prepared that this isn't a quickie thing. You have to be in the courtroom when the session starts, because you don't know when your case will be. And you have to go through security to get there, so you can't just breeze in at 8:55. I think the longest I spent there was about 5 hours, so it can shoot most of your day.

I never had to testify against a family member, but I was subpoenaed for an assault case against a good friend. It was terrible. She was heartbroken that I had "turned on her." The whole thing was just icky. Good luck to you
