Anyone buying Dr. Phil's new book that is out today?

I just bought mine today. I figure if I learn only one thing that helps me get to my goal, and helps to keep me from gaining it back it was worth the money.

If anyone else plans on buying it, do you want to have a "book club" type discussion?

I just looked up on Barnes and Noble site, and I found it. It looks interesting. I saw an ad for Katie couric and Dr. Phil starting a weight loss segment on the Today show, I'll be it has something to do with this book, seems like they coincided the release dates. I am just guessing on this, but it might be worth it to you to check out the Today show, I think it was to start on Friday, but don't hold me to that. Let us know how you like the book.

I bought it!! I am only couple of pages into it but I had the same theory!! If I only learn one thing that helps good!!!!!!!!! And it will be well worth the money!!!!

I read the first part last night and this morning. I am about to begin my first key.

What was funny, is that he really described a lot of things that really fit about me. When he talked about not jumping ahead to the how to eat and exercise portion of the book for "instant gratification" he was describing me. I always have a hard time reading books like this in full, because I want to skip around. Boy he had me pegged!

I also am excited to really sit down and write down all the goals and steps that he talked about in the beginning of the book. I have a journal that I got for my birthday that I haven't used that I will use as I go on this journey. He really made a lot of sense in the way he talked about some of the things. In some ways, when you are already into half of the "journey" it's hard to apply some of these things he says to yourself. I feel I have accepted my truths and changed a lot already. I am going to try to follow this though, and see if it helps.

How about we either start a thread that we can talk about the book, or PM each other about it. It might be useful to to have someone else who is working on it, to share what is working and discuss it. A thread might also be a good option, because maybe others can benefit.

Boy, thats the thing about this support group, it seems that as soon as I need to hear something, someone on this board is talking about it. I just "cheated" last night (and its only been a week!). I have been beating myself up about it and feeling quite hopeless about my long term goals. I mean, if I can't last a week, how in the world am I ever gonna make the long haul. I'm sure there are others out there who know what I mean. That kind of sabotage, or self-destructive mindset has kept me gaining weight for the last 8 years. This book sounds like its just the kind of thing to deal with the emotional or mental side of this whole weight loss thing. Thank you all for talking about it. I too am going out on my lunch break to buy the book - and I plan on watching that primetime special as well. I would be happy to participate in any book discussion thread that gets started.

I am going to go look at the book tonight, it might be what I am looking for. I would say how about a thread on this, and then others can join in. We can continue to help each other.
 
I pre-ordered this book from Amazon and it was delivered yesterday!

My son told me about the book. It sounds like the book for me. It deals a lot with the psychology of overeating, something I believe is a major problem of mine. I could go into all the reasons I eat, but then I would have to write my own book!:p

I've only read the intro section, I want to be really "ready" before I begin the real work.
 
If it isn't out in paperback, I'm not buying it :)
 
I bought it Tuesday and skimmed through it, hoping to read it this weekend when we go camping. I am on Atkins now, and have been having a hard time the last couple weeks--but that is because of lifestyle changes, not because the diet is hard!

Not sure how this book will fit into my diet plans now, but I like Dr Phil and his approaches to things in general, plus the shows will be a great motivation as well!

We should have a book discussion group or show discussion group here--I like that idea a lot!
