Anyone buy this child alert system for Disney?

It looks good to me. Ive never hear of it before.

My SIL bought the kids silver dog tags with the silver beaded chain. She had their names and parents cell numbers ingraved on them.

I thought this was a great idea too!

That's a good idea. So far we just have those silicone rubber bracelets with cell numbers on them, but our youngest (2), will wander away given the chance, so this product caught my eye. (We don't like leashes.) But both pairs of shoes I'm planning to bring don't have laces or velcro. They are slip on. I wonder if I'll find a place to attach it. :confused3

When is this thing going to go off - in the boneyard when your child goes down the slide ahead of you, in the HISTK playground, when one parent has the child but the other one has the monitor, etc? How easy is it to turn on and off? I can think of a dozen situations where this thing will go off by mistake - are you set to keep turning it off and on? What if you forget to turn it back on?

looks like a great idea. going to send it to relatives and friends with small children

The way I understand it, the beeper will go off only if you activate it (by pressing a button on your unit). So I don't see how it would ever go off unnecessarily. :confused3 It kind of works like those little gagets that help you find your keys...the key will beep until you can locate it. Not the best example, of course!

Looks like a cool gadget. It would be great for when I go shopping and my almost 4 year old decides to play hide and seek in the clothing racks. **dont look at me like that I try..LOL HMMM.. are they water proof and how easy is it to turn back off once you find the child. Might invest in one of these if it is waterproof and easy to disarm.

EDIT>>>>>did a search on it ...it is waterproof, has a low power indicator, works up to 150 feet even thru concrete walls, batteries included

"We have been using this locating device with our grandchildren on family trips. It absolutely works great. We have been using it over a year and have not even had to change the batteries yet! We have found Mommy I'm Here to be very reliable and especially useful at theme parks where children can become easilly confused and lost in the large crowds. We love it and hope that they continue to develop products to help our children! Thanks Mommy I'm Here!!!"

"This product is great! It is so easy to use and it gives me peace of mind when taking my child out in public."

"This is a little dissapointing although a great idea. The batteries had to be replaced before we could even test it. You have to be lined up with it just right to get it to sound off. And it's very hard to hear. My husband and I tested it in the late, quiet evening. He was in direct line of site, he said the beeper went off but I could barely hear it only 20' away. And it's supposed to work to 150'? Imagine a busy store with lots of people or a playground with a ton of screaming children?"

Thanks for doing my research! ;) I still can't decide whether to spend the money on it and don't know if it would arrive to me in time or not anyway. I guess it's pretty new...I figured with all us travelers here, lots of people would have opinions on it! :teeth:

it looks akward. It is going to make a beep.OK if your child is far enough away from you like at a stadium that would not help. And if the beep draaws attention the child may not know a number for help. i would would put a cell number on the back of the bear just to make sure.I think she meant it could go off in your pocket if you like bump into something.

OK, my mistake, even though I read the whole description the first time it didn't sink in how the thing worked... I guess it would be annoying if the button on the parent end got pushed by accident, but at least it isn't a distance monitor like I thought it was... Sorry!

I think that a lot of people will have these.so what if you hear the wrong beep.I am starting to think some young children my but up a fight if they have to wear it. i want to see that happen that a kid will wear it without it getting lost

I guess my question is ... exactly why would you want that device? To beep your younger kids in case they wander off? I hate to scare you, but the crowds in December are pretty heavy and if you can't SEE your kid you won't be able to HEAR the beep either. Plus, I know that my 7-year old second grader wouldn't wear a teddy bear on her shoe. It's too babyish for her.

Ecaxtly what i mean kids that you want to wear them will not wear them. and in a crowd you might not hear the beeeeeeep

I bought one at The Right Start before our trip to WDW in October, but returned it the same day. When I realized that I'd have to push a button for the alarm to go off, I didn't think it would be effective at WDW with my then 22mo son. He's fast and if he got away, I'm sure he could have gotten out of range before I'd even pushed the button to locate him. Instead I opted for the Harness Buddy. http://www.rightstart.com/global/store/product~item~5755.html He loved wearing the monkey on his back while DH or I held the monkey's tail. DS was able to walk "freely" without being able to run out of our sight. Of course if you're looking for something to keep track of older kids, I doubt this it a viable option.
