2 years ago, I got my christmas airfare in June for $89 each way from PIT. Those days are over, I guess. Now the airfare is $325. I do remember the flight prices going up through the fall, but not sure when. When is everyone else buying? I really don't want to spend over $300.

I just bought airfare for a few weeks before Christmas and the flights were $300 (before credits and discount offered during a specific day). They have not budged either, still right at $300.

I would expect flying around Christmas would carry a little more of a premium too.

$325 over the holidays is fair. Use a tool like bing's travel to get a sense of expected fluctuations, but I would not mind that at all. Right now, P-Week flights from DTW are $425ish. Fares from 2 years ago are meaningless in the current market, I'm afraid.

We flew ROC to MCO R/T for about $215/person on Airtran non-stop flights last Christmas. I booked in either late May or early June. Our dates were 12/15 to 12/31.

I am flying in December and priced flights out of PIT and DCA to Orlando. I will be in the middle of Pennsylvania so would have to drive back to PIT or drive on to DCA. I would prefer to fly out of PIT since it is closer to home but the flights from PIT were twice the price. I did get airfares under $100 each way out of DCA during the holidays. The prices have gone up since I purchased them though. I thought under $100 was great since we are flying over the holidays.
