I am looking to take DD and a friend on a vacation this winter and this looks like a great place - the waterpark admission is part of the room price. Also, I had a co-worker go and they had a great time. This is going to be a 2 maybe three night trip max.

I'm trying to save money if possible so if anyone could give some advice on booking I would appreciate it - if you have been where did you book the trip (travel agency, online, ect). Also, what time of year did you go? If anyone has been in the winter months I would love to hear about it. I plan on calling to find out when their slow times are so hopefully that will help get a better rate.

We were going to Gatlinburg and rent a cabin but I foresee boredom would be soon setting in, this kid needs activities and lots of them! They also offer free tickets to some other local attractions so that would help.

I will be driving and we will be eating some meals in the room to cut costs but I love that you don't have to get in a car to drive to get to the fun! And an indoor water park in the middle of winter - she'll love that.

We went in October, I think two years ago. We really liked the indoor waterpark. It was freezing outside, but inside, was nice and warm. They had a wave pool,2 or 3 inside slides, splash area and flow rider. The winter months use to be cheaper because you didn't get the outside stuff. Hope you enjoy it.

We went in Jan. right after News Years. It was great. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo - I rented points from a friend. We had a blast. It was me, my 10 year old, my nephews 20 and 14, and my parents who basically stayed in the condo. We ate all meals in and only stayed there - we travel often to PF area. The boys all enjoyed the waterpark but really liked the arcade area.

Get on their mailing list, they send coupons and promotions pretty regularly (I usually get them by snail mail.) we love the cabins in Gatlinburg too but it's good that you are skipping them. The mountain roads going up to the cabins can be pretty icy in the winter.

What timing...I too have been looking into this! Thinking maybe a New Year's trip. I'm about 5 hours away ( Ohio) and wasn't sure what the weather is like there during that time....thinking of possibly doing Dollywood as well. Subsrcibing to this thread :thumbsup2

I live near there, everyone I know that has been loves it. The area has so much to do, great place to visit. We go for day trips when we can.

What is the weather like in December as I'll be driving up from AL. I called and they are closing the first week of December to clean the water park and plan on going the week after, the reservation person I spoke to said it was their slow time before the Christmas rush came.

Also, they have an Adventure Land (not sure if I got the name right) that has rock climbing, bowling, arcades, mini golf, ect and those passes are around $25 per day per person. But there is so much more than what I have listed there - well worth the price. These kids are going to have a ball!

My boys love the Wilderness and we have been several times. I also wanted to mention that you can rent cabins with private indoor pools and small theaters for the same price and sometimes less. You won't have the water park but you won't have the high prices for food and everything else. It's just something else to consider. Also consider the snow, the cabins can sometimes be in some hard to get to places. We go almost every New Years and haven't had any trouble. My boys love the Wilderness but they really love hooking up that Xbox to that giant theater screen...lol. If your interested just search luxury cabins with indoor private pool. Good luck, you will have a blast either way. If you are foodies at all, go into Gatlinburg for breakfast at the Pancake Pantry. The French toast is to die for.:goodvibes

We went to the Wilderness at the Smokies for the first time July 4th weekend. Our seven year old DS had a blast. It rained a lot, but the indoor part was great. Have fun! :)

We went for 2 nights the end of June and was able to get a 2 bedroom from a Wyndham owner off of Ebay for 350.00 and that included 8 water park passes. That is a great deal and will be doing that again, we had so much fun.
