We have decided to cancel our ressies for the Days Inn Chester at the advice of other Board Members.
We are now looking at the Comfort Inn Philadelphia Airport, which seems to have some good reviews and has a shuttle and free parking.
Does anyone have any experience with this hotel?
Thanks to those who responded to our initial request and to those who can give us info on this one!

There are a couple of reviews for the hotel on TripAdvisor.com . Personally, I would avoid staying in Chester. Aside from the area directly around Crozier Hospital, the city is extremely bad. There are a lot of hotels in Essington, PA that also have park-and-go lots with airport shuttles. I would advise looking into some of them.

Thanks, mad4themouse! We may change our plans now that we have read the 2 reviews. We aren't very familiar with Chester so this is a great help.

I never stayed there, either, but I do know that Chester isn't the nicest neighborhoods.

There are a few hotels, that offer free parking, that are pretty close to the airport.

I would definitely change my reservations.

Just bumping up our edited post!

Embassy Suites. It has a shuttle to the airport and is a very nice place. We use it every trip. If you stay there, you are allowed to park your car there while you are away for free.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn December 2003 and this past October. We did park and fly and they were great. In December, we were scheduled to leave on a Saturday, the day of that huge blizzard we got, we were able to get a room earlier in the week for Friday night before for park and fly so we would not have to drive Sat am early in bad weather. Well, Friday morning, as the snow is starting my husband called USAir and was able to change our flight to 5pm that night at no charge due to weather and we checked in to the Hampton Inn, but I didnt want to check out incase our flight was cancelled, we would have a place to stay. As luck had it everything worked out and I checked out at 10pm when we landed in Orlando LOL. They were super nice and friendly there and have the continental breakfast to boot.

We had a bad experience with them last summer. We booked there thinking how easy it would be to just take the shuttle over since we had an early flight. When we checked in the night before they told us the shuttles were already full for the next morning. DH had to drive me, 2 dds and ds to Airport where I had to check in the luggage myself, while he drove the car back to the hotel and took a cab back to the airport. Also had to do this in reverse upon return. This year we're just hiring a limo to get us to the airport - it just wasn't worth the hassle.

and skip staying the night before near the airport. The airport parking is only $8/day and sounds pretty convenient. Thanks for all the input!

I work just a hop, skip and a jump from the airport. The hotels farthest from the airport - but still within a 2-3 mile drive are the Ramada, Comfort Inn and the Holiday Inn. They are listed as being on Industrial Drive, which is also called Route 291 and leads directly to the airport.

There is also an EconoLodge listed for 291, but that hotel is very close to my office complex and is now a Travelodge; it was just renovated and is right next door to an Enterprise car rental location. There is a Renaissance hotel located on Stevens Drive, but in reality it is located on Route 291; it is less than one mile to the airport.

At the airport is a Marriott. Once you pass the airport, there are several hotels which are pretty good – all on Bartram Avenue – Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites are just two of them. On Island Avenue are the Hilton, Sheraton Suites and Residence Inn. All are within a two-mile airport drive.

I haven’t stayed at any of these hotels since I live within a fairly close drive of the airport. I would advise that you check TripAdvisor.com and/or VirtualTourist.com for hotel reviews. I would not advise staying in the Chester area, either. The first hotels I mentioned – the Ramada, Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn – are not that far from Chester. I do not think they would be unduly unsafe, but I would be wary. I would opt to stay in one of the hotels on either Bartram or Island Avenues. None of the hotels I mentioned are more than three to four miles from the airport. I am unsure which ones offer free parking for the duration of your stay, but I would bet it would be most of them. The Comfort Inn is right next door to a Denny’s restaurant. There is also a McDonald’s along 291 as well as a Wawa convenience store. Good luck!

If you want an inexpensive place, try Microtel. I think they still let you park and have a shuttle. It is a bit "tinny" but clean and not in a bad area. their # is 215-492-0700 888-771-7171
