We stayed in SOG in Apr/May '98. The rooms are huge (approx 400 sq ft) and nice. The restaurant was great. But unless you are in the military or are staying with someone in the military you will not be able to stay there. You must show proof (ie military ID) at check-in.

If you are eligible to stay there with your military friends, don't hesitate to do so! It is a wonderful resort that is equal to the WDW Deluxes. You can go to their website at www.shadesofgreen.org and see several pictures of the rooms/restaurants/etc.

:earseek: oops. I didn't read it right. Sorry. :guilty:

SOG is great. I wish we could stay there this time. You get all the benefits of the WDW resorts. When I was there, my sister travelled with us and she was active-duty military.

We stayed there in Dec 04 and it was very very nice. Great rooms, beautiful grounds and pools. If they are going, tell them to book ASAP.
The restaurant was ok. We only ate there for breakfast and they have a big buffet. There is a small aafes there (they will know what that is) and you can buy snacks, drinks, beer...all for a good price.
Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

We stayed there this past May. It was wonderful. You can't beat the location for the price. It's an easy walk to the Poly and the Monorail, and the buses were nice too. Plus, the rooms are the biggest at WDW.

jenjen212: If you go to the top of the Disney resort forum page on the right, you'll see a box listed search this forum. Type in Shades of Green resort and all the threads on this resort come up. There's lots of info on this resort in those threads. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

They have a few things. When I was there in '98, it was kind of small. I don't know if the made it any bigger in the renovation. It was about the size of an airport shop.

Do they have Disney merchandise at the AAFES store there?

Christine

A couple of things, but it is not a 'huge' store. It is small, but it was great to get a soda or milk for the kids, pop tarts, chips, that kind of stuff.

We stayed on October 2004. I have never stayed on-site and absolutely loved it  . You can't beat the rooms for the price. We walked with our 2 ds over to the Poly almost everyday to catch the monorail. I can't say anything about the bus service because we never used it. When we went to AK we used our van, easier on the kiddos. We also never at the the resort instead we used counter service at the park(needed to pack in as much magic as we could). I am hoping to go back this year.

There are numeros reviews on this site about SoG, some good, some bad. We stayed in the renovated old side and did not have some of the complaints that others did on the new side. Your friends should enjoy this resort.
