and have you had to put anything you bought together? I have two pieces to do this weekend, how bad is it gonna be?

Been there, done that! They are the best... great price, decently constructed. The instructions I have had have been clear and they usually give you the tools you need to put them together. Two of the pieces we have put together have included a little special hex wrench to screw in the screws with.

Just make sure you lay out all the pieces and count everything before you begin, on the off chance something is missing.

I agree; we have several IKEA pieces in our hoursehold, and they all were pretty simple to put together. Also, if you can't figure out the instructions, just give them a call and they'll talk you through them!

I need to go back but I also need to rent a truck before we go. We assembled several desk lamps, chairs, desk and book case and had no trouble. I didnt find the desk instructions until after we were done. We also picked up stuff I didnt know they had. They have a lot of neat stuff like rugs, placemats, kitchen and office stuff dirt cheap. We need to get DS a bed and desk. He is 14 and in a bunkbed from This End up.

I have several pieces and it goes together pretty easy. I've done a few other things from different stores and found IKEA furniture to be much better made so there weren't any issues with assembly. The worst I've put together have been things from disneystore.com, some of it was so bad I had to have replacements sent.

We bought a bed and a couple of dressers that we put together. It's not that bad. The directions are all pictures. The only advice I can give you is to look a head a picture or two.

Almost all of the furniture I have is IKEA and I love it. Easy to put together and pretty fast in some cases. I put together 4 dining room chairs in less than an hour, all but attaching the seats to them, my mother did that and it took her less than an hour too, so about two hours total. The only reason I didn't do that part was because my carpal tunnel was acting up.

has anyone put together one of their wardrobe units? I'm afraid mine will be crooked & sway back & forth.

I have a wardrobe similar to the one you have pictured but mine has solid doors.
It was really easy to put together and is very sturdy. I didn't put mine together but my son did and we call him Tim the toolman Taylor. If it breaks he can break it.
My dresser unit doesn't sway or move at all. But I have mine on a carpeted floor.
They have some kind of stabilizer legs inder the front that are cut like screws and you turn it to level the unit.
My grandson loves to hide inside the closet with the large door and I don't worry at all about it tipping.
You can hook all the parts together with a plastic piece that screws into the top and side but we didn't and it still doesn't move.
If you do try and move it be very careful though. We bought a dresser that was made of the same material (basicly presswood with a laminate) and my son tried to slide it from one corner to the next. The thing cracked at the bottom by one of the screws. Ikea is great though, they took it back and gave me a new one. Peggie

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2 It was exactly what I was wondering. Also, I'll remember to get sliders to put under it if I have to move it. :)

Hi :wave2: DD17 and I love Ikea. We bought her a tall dresser this past summmer and it came with no instructions, our luck her boyfriend winged it and got it together. A couple weeks ago we went again, she bought a tall glass cabinet with glass shelves in clearance for $49.00(perfect for her JR Nascar colection) and I found a pair of dark brown curtains in clearance.
I love that their curtains comes in pairs and are VERY long. Now just to get there for breakfast.

Came home from work at 1am and DH had decided to help and put together my two pieces  what a help! It took 5 hours! He is a perfectionist so they look PERFECT! Now... ummm one is way long.. how am I gonna get it in the room LOL Its gonna be a challenge LOL!! Oh well.
