Anyone been to Freeport Grand Bahama Island? Considering going there for spring break and looking for some info from anyone who has been before.

I went there last Jan. with my family & loved it, even though it was not very warm in Jan. Freeport is not as far south as most of the other islands. It is off the coast of West Palm, FL. We stayed in a condo. I found the landlord and just about all the people in Freeport to be very friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the response. I think most people go to Nassau but we can get a good deal on a flight to Freeport. We would be going with a 3 and 11 yr olds. Do you have any recommendations on things to do or where to stay? We were looking at Grand Lucayan owned by Radisson.

I have been! We went with the Celebration Cruise line and stayed at Our Lucaya which I think is now called Grand Lucaya. We loved it! Here is my advice! Pay for the ocean view room it is worth every penny and there is nothing like the view! Also go off property to buy some of your own liquor & juice and some big plastice cups and make your own drinks, because the bar by the pool is awesome but super expensive. I think it was called Hammerheads? There were little shops in walking distance but we mostly stayed by the pool since we were only there a few days. The food and drinks at the hotel are very expensive but we loved the hotel.

I might add I was not a huge fan of the Celebration Cruise line. Next time I would just fly there.

I stayed at Pelican Bay next door to the Raddison (it was sheraton/westin at the time) it was nice not alot to do in Freeport. But I enjoyed it. It was very relaxing. Pelican Bay at Lucaya is on the beach.

We went there for the day as an excursion on the Disney Cruise years ago---what a great pool they have and its steps from the beach!!

Port Lucaya is nice. Lots of hotels with really great pools. Many restaurants in walking distance. Our family favorite was Zorbas. What a surprise to learn my kids liked Greek food. Don't forget to try conch fritters while you are there.

I wish we could have done the UNEXO dolphin swim while we were there. Horseback riding on the beach looks fun too.
