Anyone been to Cypress Pointe recently?

Anyone know how the construction is doing at Cypress Pointe? We are set to check in next Monday, May 5.

Last I heard they were bogged down in permits and hadn't gotten much accomplished...but that was from someone else on this site, not firsthand. We are checking in on June 15th for 9 days and can't wait. I'd love to see any pictures you have of the resort. Have a great trip!

Sounds like the permits were approved in mid April and they are back at work on the recreational area...

We're back! We spent 3 nights at the Cypress Pointe Grandvillas in a 2 BR unit. We were in the Parrot Cay building, with a parking lot view. Very convenient to the pool area. The unit itself looked a little tired and dated. It wasn't terrible, and certainly didn't ruin our trip ... but we did notice a difference between Cypress Pointe and some of the other WDW area timeshare properties. The biggest difference is the kitchen. Vistana Villages and Silver Lake-Silver Points have granite countertops, higher end appliances and cookware, etc. CP has formica counters, midlevel appliances, etc.

With that said, we would definitely stay there again... especially for the price. It's a great value for the money.

We timed our commute to the parks. Epcot was the shortest drive, the MK was the longest. it took us about 30 minutes to get from CP to the parking lot at the TTC, plus however long it took us to get to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. No more than 45 minutes, and certainly less than the HOUR it took using WDW buses to get to the Dolphin on Friday.

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas haven't been renovated since they were built. There is a plan to do a full renovation in the next few years but no firm schedule yet. The type of things you find in newer resorts - like granite counter tops are planned. But right now things are in pretty good shape but certainly not up to date.

Meanwhile over at Cypress Ponte Resort, actually the older resort in age, the 2004/5 unit renovation upgraded things like the appliances, entertainment features, carpets, all soft goods and much more. The only things that weren't done were the counter tops, tile floors and cabinets. Guess what? Those are on the agenda for the 2010 renovation along with another round of carpet, soft goods, entertainment equipment, etc. It is the view of that Association that everything needs to be replaced and in many cases upgraded on a regular basis if a resort is to remain top ranked. So you will find major renovation work there on a schedule - 2004, 2010, 2016 - and on and on.

Add an ever improving resort to one of the greatest locations to be found in Orlando and you have a good place to consider for your stay. We enjoy it every time we are there.

That is why I was about to mention that the Grand Villas are NOT "Cypress Pointe" - so you cant really lump a review of units together

Great stay and loved having the washing machine since we went on a week cruise once we left. Very clean, and very quiet. Nice pool area. Very close to Downtown Disney; short drive. We will stay at Cypress Pointe again.

Thanks for posting this...any chance of a lengthier review? Any suggestions for me lol. I was planning on requesting first floor......close to parking lot. How was the food place? Did you hear any neighbors above you? Was it a pain not to have an elevator? Was it difficult to get parking right near your room?
