Has anyone been to this museum? The descriptions sound kind of interesting, and it apparently is one of the national association of science museums reciprocal admission museums. I would be interested in anyone's experiences. Thanks.

If it's the place I'm thinking of, there's no fee. They ask for a donation, but as my guide told me, when we went on the Hilton Head Island tour, Disney HH donates a large amount, so she told me that essentially, I was paid for! It's a fairly small place, Chamber of Commerce downstairs, historical room in the middle, and ecology room upstairs. Also, there's a nice large deck out back for watching nature. I went there twice-once on that tour and once with DH. There's a nice spotting scope upstairs for looking out the back window at the birds. For someone who loves nature, or is interested in the history of the island, it would be a pleasant way to spend 1/2-1 hour.

It is definitely worth going to and there is tons of information available about the island and surrounding areas. There are also tours and lectures given from here as well. We went to a sea turtle walk (which actually met at the Westin) and an alligator lecture. While on the turtle walk we didn't see any turtles, we did learn about the turtles and walked along the beach and looked at some of the nests. On the gator lecture, someone from Gatorland in Orlando came up and talked about gators and had a baby and 2-3 yo gator with him. After the lecture, everyone got to touch the gator and the kids got to hold it and have their picture taken with it (his mouth was taped so the kids were not ever in danger). We all enjoyed it and look forward to see what programs will be offered while we are there this summer.
