Anyone been served by Ashang on the Fantasy lately?

MDR Server. We've had him twice and he does a great job. We requested him for our cruise this past June, but did not get him. Am hoping he was between contracts, or was there but couldn't work with our AERAERA rotation. We are on the Fantasy again this Feb. and will request him again.

Can anyone verify he is still around? Thx.

Just found this thread. Ashang is still around. We just had him last week on the Fantasy! Best server we have ever had! He's going home sometime in December though so he might not be on in February.

We had Ashang September 2014 but unfortunately he was not there in May 2015 . But we plan to go in May this year and hope to find him.

We just got back from the Fantasy the other day and were lucky enough to have Ashang again! He certainly remembered us also! He was very hard working especially with one group that had very high demands. I felt kind of bad for him but he was still in great spirits. He will be gone Aug-late October, back in November and then Gone May-June. Hope this helps with your plans!

We just got back from the Fantasy the other day and were lucky enough to have Ashang again! He certainly remembered us also! He was very hard working especially with one group that had very high demands. I felt kind of bad for him but he was still in great spirits. He will be gone Aug-late October, back in November and then Gone May-June. Hope this helps with your plans!

Yes, when we last had Ashang, the table next to us was comprised of a couple of moms and four kids. They always showed up to dinner late, and the moms were always three-sheets-to-the-wind drunk, obnoxiously making demands of Ashang as he frantically tried to get them served and back on schedule so they were done in time to reset the table for second seating. We could tell he was getting pissed off, but he didn't show it to them, keeping it all courteous and professional. I hope they eventually tipped him well because he deserved it.

That's so sad! I hate when I see people treating waitstaff that way anywhere, but especially on a Disney cruise where they've likely been away from their home and family for months at a time! : ( How awful. I understand enjoying a couple of drinks on the cruise, but drinking every day when you've brought kids is sad. I hope they didn't just leave them in Oceaneer's all day : /

This family wasn't terrible but they did ask Ashang for some unreasonable requests like different flavored crème brulee or completely different entrees not on the menu. He managed to keep them happy. There was another table with four older adults nearby that didn't like his antics and the loud laughter. They complained and asked for his name. I don't think he got in trouble though. Man after watching that all in one night I felt so bad for him. But he was still the same happy Ashang we all knew!

He's lively, but I never found him to be unduly loud or distracting to other patrons. He's been a lead server on DCL's flagship vessel for years now. I am sure he gets consistently high reviews, so if one uptight family *****es, it won't reflect poorly on him.
