anyone back yet who has tried the dining plan?

Hi! Looking for experiences of the new dining plan.

I don't think anyone has heard anything yet. I, too, am excited to see how it is working. I am also wondering about the beverages. The brochure says that at a sit down meal you get 'one single serving non alcoholic beverage'. I am curious if that means that they aren't going to give us any refills.

I would assume the beverage portion means that if you want to purchase a non-alcoholic drink that normally gets free refills, you will get the refills. But if you order a beverage that doesn't normally have free refills, you will be charged for refills. For example, if you get iced tea, you will get refills, but if you order a smoothie, you won't.

But you know what happens when you assume!

It is real fog. That is how we saw the castle for the first time. We were walking up Main Street for a ps at Cindy's and (oh, the trip was a surprise two years in the making for our dd-that's her back that you see in the picture), as we are walking along, she asks me where the castle is, the fog is so think you could cut it. I told her that I didn't know and to keep following everyone else. Well, you couldn't have written a movie better than it... the castle just gradually appeared, a little at time until we were right up on it and then it just kind of 'popped' out of the fog. I tell you, I was crying by the time I made this picture, it was just one of those pixie dust moments.

That's the way I understood it.

When I decided to go with the meal plan, I knew my son would want to order the smoothies or non alcoholic frozen drinks each night. I can't imagine having unlimited refills on those items.

I believe a DISer used the dining plan last week. I hope she gets a change to post soon.

I want to know how they handle the snack option at the various restaurants. How can they put Main Street Bakery on the list and not allow you to pick a bakery item? Why isn't school bread an option in Norway? Who wants to go into those places and just order a soda or ice cream?

You are right about the snack thing- I wish there was a $$ amt attached to it. Then, you could get whatever you wanted as long as it was within the amount given. I don't really like the Mickey bars, and I'm sure popcorn would get kinda old after a few days- but a drink isn't my idea of a snack.

Oh, well- our trip isn't for a while. Maybe they will refine the system by the time we go.

Okay, that makes sense about the smoothies and speciality drinks... I am such a tea and water drinker that I can't really imagine drinking anything else with my meal, so that is why it was so confusing to me. LOL!
