Trying to figure out if we can do this this summer, and didn't know who else to ask! My family will be staying for 1 week at BWV, while my parents are booked at Grande Vista. Though they are booked for a whole week through a timeshare exchange, they will only be staying there for 3 nights. We would like an extra night for our trip so we can see Seaworld, and my parents suggested that we take their room for our last night since it is already booked in their name. Is it possible to switch occupants midway through a stay? Would there be a charge? Should we just check-in with them in the first place? They have a 1-room villa booked which I know sleeps 4, and we have 4 in our own family. Could DH and I officially check-in with them on day 1, then add my kids after my parents leave? Sorry if this is complicated, but I want to make sure we know what we can and can't do before we get down there! Thanks for anyone that can help!!

We are at the Grande Vista now on a time share exchange. I don't know the official stance on your question, but have the folks ask for 2 parking passes or meet outside Grande Vista and get their parking pass and card keys and site map the day they leave. There is express checkout that means all you have to do is just leave the keys in the villa so you will never have to even go to the front desk. There won't be fresh sheets or towels this way, though. I would think it was okay since you will not be exceeding th occupancy limit and the resort will still have a credit card # of the folks in case something gets damaged.

It should be fine. Ask your parents to notify the front desk that their guests (giving your name) will be occupying the room later in the week. Timeshare resorts are accustomed to this and do permit it. They may want you to arrive prior to your parents' departure to change the security authorization from your parents' credit card to yours. Or they may just ask for you to visit the front desk and officially "check-in" when you plan to arrive to stay. But make sure that your parents have notified the front desk - perhaps call them yourself before your parents depart and see that your name has been entered into the computer as a guest on your parents' reservation.

If your parents want, they may pre-arrange for a full housekeeping of the unit at least 24 hours ahead of time, for the day of/after their planned departure, so you'll have fresh bed linens and towels. There's a charge for this. Otherwise, if they'll have a regular 1BR with a MBR and a "full" kitchen (not a studio), it will have a stacked washer/dryer in the villa. So that may help too, at least with the towels. You may also just ask for fresh sheets to be delivered and change the beds yourselves. Have a fun trip!
