My older DD is in the FFA (Future Farmers of America). Last night she participated in her first hog show. I couldn't believe my little petite DD was out in a show ring with those big ole pigs. I am so glad that she sold them last night, and we are out of the pig business. Thank goodness the local man who bought them told us he was going to breed them.

First off, congratulations to your DD! :) Did she make a lot of money at the sale?

Next, I don't think we have FFA around here any more, but my DH was a very active member when he was in high school in the 70s. He loved FFA and still tells stories about the things they did and the places they went!

Congratulations to your daughter. I did 4-H because FFA was not offered in our High School and did market swine for about four years. My siblings and I each had to pigs to show/sell. I thought it was great fun-I am glad to hear kids are still involved in 4-H/FFA.

Her two pigs sold for about $380. This was her first year showing, and she didn't have a top 10 pig. The winner got about $1200 for his pig.
