Hello,

I'm asking for some opinions regarding the Lascal's BuggyBoard. I'll be attending the parks with my 2 kids while dear hubby is at work. I'm nervous about losing my kids as well as the whining (about being tired etc.) and was wondering if anyone has tried the BuggyBoard. Thought the BuggyBoard would be a great way to move quickly (pushing 2 kids), keep track of them and avoid the complaints.

Please, please give me the scoops (so I can make the decision if I should keep the BuggyBoard or if I should return it and figure an alternate plan). BTW DD weighs 37lbs, DS weighs 40lbs.

Hi,

Technical first, you must have the kind of stroller that can 'take' the BB. For example, the umbrella stroller with no rear axle. www.lascal.se for more technical details.

The BB is a nice alternative to a double stroller or something like a built-in riding/toddler board in the Peg Perego Pliko/P3. It's big and stable for a child to stand on. It rides fairly easy on paved surface.

The only possible issue would be if you would kick the board or not. I am 5'6" and have long strides, but I don't kick our board. This is mainly because I do have to adjust my strides, way of holding the handle(s) so that arm length might be longer, etc. when I have the board.

My kids are older now but when they were 5 and 3 we did the world with a pliko - it was a full size stroller with a riding board on the back for my 5yo. It was perfect for me at that time.

FWIW if you can find a used pliko or a sit n stand that would do the trick but if you have a stroller you like and the buggy board will fit and you can afford one it should be fine.

With your cirucmstances and if you are using bus service you may be better off using your money to rent a wdw stroller. The are large and easy to push and you won't have to worry about getting them on and off the bus/boat/tram along with your kids.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming. Every bit of info is helpful.

In our situation, I will be walking the park (no bus transportation). I actually was wondering if my husband could put the connectors on at home, then we'll fly in and at the hotel put the BuggyBoard on (I'm not sure how the airlines would treat a stroller that can't fold with the BB attached). Another question for those who own one, is it easy to connect and disconnect, or fold etc.?

Currently we have a MacLaren Volo (which we bought just for traveling) and we won't get another stroller that has the toddler sit/stand thing on it (my husband would probably flip out).

Just today, I went shopping (for our trip) and my l a z y son kept asking me when we're returning to the van. Yikes, if he can't handle walking an outlet mall, what's he going to do at the park (then again the park is waaaaaay more fun).

Just to clarify, you can't walk to the parks. Unless your staying at CR and only visiting MK you will have to use bus/boat/tram/monorial at least sometimes. Just don't want you to be surprised by that.

I don't know much about the buggy board but you will have to fold the stroller for the flight. If you gate check it I recommend making sure it is securly fastened - we used a bungee after locking it closed. If it unfolds and the baggage handlers are not sure how to fold it - they could force it and break it. Better to make sure it stays folded!

Hi,

The connectors are installed/attached onto the stroller frame. The BB 'arms' will be inserted into the connectors when you need to use it. When you need to fold the stroller, you remove the BB and fold the stroller as usual.

The Buggy Board works with the Volo.

I don't have a buggy board, but I have friends who do and LOVE them.

There are different types out there, one for every kind of stroller imaginable, even umbrella's, so that shouldn't be a problem--I looked into them knowing my preschooler doesn't normally use a stroller, but sometime does.

And I may be wrong, but I thought if you were staying in the Epcot area resorts, you could walk to both Epcot and MGM. Was this info. I've been given wrong? I know there is no where you can walk to all four parks, and no where were you could walk to AK, but...???????????? :confused3

And personally, I wouldn't rent a wdw stroller. Not only does $$ add up for long stays, I just HATE those strollers. OK, it's really the MK rentals I hate, but if your kids nap the rentals are exteremly uncomfortable and counter productive to it. You don't say there ages and I never assume they are light or heavy (or tall or short) for their age; I know people with 30 lb. 4.5 yo and people with 30 lb one year olds. For that matter, I know 5yo who nap and 2yo who don't.

i have a buggyboard and use it all the time at home with my ds 3 (40lbs). if you're not taking a bus at all, i think it would be fine. it goes on/off in seconds.

And I may be wrong, but I thought if you were staying in the Epcot area resorts, you could walk to both Epcot and MGM.

this is true. we are BWV owners and it's 5 mins to the epcot int'l gateway, and about 20mins to mgm (leisurely pace).

I have a buggyboard and we use it all the time. I purchased a pair of stroller handle extenders for about $20 because I'm taller and I kept kicking the board constantly. Now I have plenty of room to walk behind without kicking the board. Here's the link:

We haven't taken our buggyboard to Disney b/c we prefer to use the dbl stroller so the kids have a place to sit down out of the sun and rest when needed. Also, pushing the stroller + buggyboard all day long gets heavy, depending on the weight of your kids. You have to remove the board before you fold up the stroller, so you'll need a little extra time getting on the buses. I use it all the time at home for shorter trips like to the mall and the zoo. The kids really love riding on it.

you also get the type of bb that is a step so can be used as a seat instead of child standing. my friend had that type and she thought it was excellent.
