Booked to stay there last week in August. Stayed in ASMO last October 9 (first trip ever to US) and loved it (just me DH and DSs - teenagers x 2), but this year also accompained by DD who is 21 and will have just fiinished uni so had to find a room that we could all share as pennies are tight.
Would love to hear other peeps experiences.

My travel last year and that was quite OK. Virgin this year. Anyone know how they compare?

Firstly, welcome to the DIS :) !

Several people have stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott and I've seen many favourable reviews - there a couple of reviews on this thread - Click here and if you put Courtyard in the Search, you should come up with some more - I'd use the Search All Forums as there are threads on other boards besides this one. (Tip: Use the Search when the site isn't too busy).

I am sure some folk who have stayed at the Courtyard will also post - looking forward to seeing more of your posts on the boards :)

I have stayed there twice at a brilliant rate of $20 a night. It is within walking distance of DTD and also the Crossroads shops. I would ask for a room overlooking Disney and you will get a view of the fireworks. I asked to be moved on my first stay because the noise in the room was awful caused by the traffic on I-4. The transport to the parks is very good (every 30 minutes). You will also qualify for any perks such as E-nights. The hotel restaurant is good and reasonably priced. They also have a snack bar in the lobby serving breakfast and also snacks such as Pizza Hut pizza. Last August they were running something called the manager's special. This was available between 4 - 6:00 pm daily and consisted of free drinks (beer, wine and soft drinks) aswell as popcorn and nachos. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed there over the millennium celebrations and we'd deffinitely stay there again.

Ask for a room overlooking the pool on a high floor of the main tower. You get to see fire works and the noise level is low.

The buffet breakfast isn't as cheap as some but its very good.

The room we had was huge. There is the added benefit of an sink outside the bathroom which was great for doing my hair and make up. It'll be a godsend with your DD.

It's an pleasant walk to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island so no worries for your DD (or you) about getting home from the clubs.

Wow!!

Thanks all for your help. I must admit I was a bit worried and am now much relieved.

So now I can really start to look forward!!

Sorry to have to jump in with a negative report but we stayed at this hotel in May 2000.

As already described the hotel has good facilities and a good location but our stay was ruined by lack of sleep. At the time we stayed the hotel was full , the bar was running a bucket of beer room service special, and the washing machines ( located at the end of the corridors with the ice machines ) were running at 2and 3am ( despite clear signs saying no laundry after 9.30pm )

We had to resort to night security many times at ungodly hours to stop parties ( 6 or 8 drunken adults in a room TV on full blast ) and to kill the power to the washing machines.

NEVER AGAIN !!

We stayed here last August for 3 nights and would stay there again, although the traffic was a little noisy! It was very convenient for DTD and the managers served complimentary drinks and snacks for about an hour each day.

We are back there again on 11 June this year for our fourth visit. Best hotel I have ever stayed in (I have never stayed on site though I have to say) off site. I love the area - so green in comparison to the 192 where we stayed previously. We were greeted like old friends last May "welcome back, we have a lovely room for you (and they did!)". I'm sure you will have a fantastic time.

Yup - stayed there December 2002 and liked it very much. Best things were view, proximity to DTD and the breakfasts. Can't think of a downside, except that it's not Disney.

It's a few years since we stayed there on our first trip to WDW (1995), but I can't put it any better than Sian -
Can't think of a downside, except that it's not Disney.
If we were going to stay off-site again I'd be very happy to go back to the Courtyard :)

We stayed there in October 2001 and loved it and are going back in October this year.

We thought the hotel was very clean, very friendly and we loved being able to walk to Downtown Disney and Crossroads at night.

Disney gift shop and desk selling tickets, making PS's etc.

Very close to the parks too and we quite enjoyed not having Disney thrust in our faces 24/7.
