Anybody renting a car in Feb. 2010? What's your best rate?

Using a costco code that webworm posted I got $209.00 for 2/10-2/20. That also includes a free additional driver. Excellent for those dates!

I'm going to jump in here, too... we are planning a cruise in Feb and need a one-way to the cruise and then two or three days after the cruise...

Hi Jen, we booked a rent a car 2/12 we are staying in Hyatt that night, but we're going to WDW. Rented the car for the day for $50.00

We are taking the Disney bus to the port 2/13 after the cruise, on 2/20 we are renting from Port Can, & driving to WDW spending the day in the parks, & dropping off the car in MCO airport late that night. Again $50.00 I booked early

I am using the Entertaiment coupons for upgrades. FYI last year I did the same thing, & was able to get $37.00 This year I was shocked how the price went up.

Alamo Jan 31 to Feb 14th Minivan Got it last week on a prepay for $376.00 taxes in:cool1::cool1:. It was on one of their hot deal links. No free driver but it was better than then previous $625.00 price i got about a month ago. And my thrifty res using mousesavers was $740.00. So it does pay to keep checking and pray you get the lucky. When i first was looking, prices was well over the grand mark upward to $1500.00. :scared1:

I kept checking - down to $191 for a standard sized now from 2/2 - 2/11. Went through Costco (we are members) to get a discount.

OP--I just reread your first post and honestly, it is LATE to be looking for a car for Feb. in Orlando! Seriously, that is one of the most expensive times to rent in Orlando. Most coupons fill to capacity by now, and many of the car companies don't offer many discounts. I would jump on something you can live with, and then continue to shop around, you can always cancel.

Two days ago, I booked Feb 8 to 12 (5 days, Monday to Friday) for $93. With taxes, etc, the total is $138.

This is for a compact car with Budget.

I respectfully disagree. I've been punching codes from Mousesavers into the Alamo site for the last couple weeks for our February trip and have not been too impressed. Yesterday the rates started dropping, and they have dropped again today. Not once has it said "no vehicle available for that rate code".:thumbsup2

We are renting a minivan through Dollar at MCO, using Orlando Magic Card code from Mousesavers from Jan 29-Feb 7 for $500. I am hoping something better comes along, kind of like one of Kermit's old songs. You think you have a great rate until all the mandatory add ins.

Thrifty's rate is a total of $386.02 using orlando magic card corporate discount 004m001010 and includes free additional driver. Thrifty is onsite in Orlando.

I came across a new code with Alamo on their website today, contract ID is SUNPROMO and with the ecoupon AD2123JMC, this would bring it down to $372ish taxes in.

Hope this code is of help to you all as I have really enjoyed all the information sharing for my own rental.

I found the Entertainment Book coupons to be invaluable. The rental car savings alone usually make up the cost of the book.

Also, try the Car and Driver code found in Mousesavers. It broght the base Minivan rate from $600 to $366.

Mine went down a little with National, 2/27 to 3/5. Using AARP 6100120 and ECoupon ND1881JDK, $211.45 midsize, executive aisle.
Picking up at MCO, returning to Car Care Center.

I looked at hotwire and then bid on priceline.
bid 11/day and is was accepted.
feb 3-10/2010
with fees it came to 140USD
alamo (in the airport)
midsize

a great site to check for priceline bids and hotwire rates is

I also posted more specific details yesterday on the "official" feb car rental thread.

hope that helps.

Yup -- you're right -- prices are still dropping for our trip. And I expect them to drop again after Feb. 9th when the current discounts expire.

We have never been unable to get a car -- we've been bumped up to a better car, but never unable to secure a rental. And we always travel to WDW in Feb.

And until now, there wasn't a rate I could live with -- we normally pay around $200 for over a week's rental.

I have the entertainment book and tried every code on Mousesavers for our trip and wasn't impressed.

I ended up bidding through Priceline and had my bid accepted for $18 per day for a full size car, 2/24 to 3/2. It was accepted by Avis and the total with taxes and fee is $170.**
