Anybody recently returned from a DVC resort?

We're going to Disney World in June and we're thinking about renting DVC points. We've never done this before, so we're a little timid about it. Can anyone offer their good/bad experiences? Any words of advice? Can you recommend someone to rent from? What is a good price for points? What are the big differences between a normal resort and the DVC resort(s)?

Thanks for any and all advice you all can offer. It's fascinating reading all of your posts!

You probably get a quick and accurant response on the DVC Rent Trade Board. Points go on average ten dollars per point.

I've never stayed in a studio. But the one bedroom & two bedrooms are setup like condos. They have a living room, bedrooms & full kitchen. Some of the DVC resorts are attached to hotels so you'll have many of the hotel amenities. But I would think most of them would have all the amenties that you'd find in a regular hotel. I guess it just depends on what you want out of the DVC resort.

I'm planning on renting points at BWV in October & the average price is $10/pt. We stayed in the 1-bedroom villas before and love having a washer/dryer, separate bedroom and 2 baths. I've never rented points before either but have been told you only get towel service on the 4th day and not the full housekeeping as if you were paying full price. But I would rather rent points at BWV, BCV or OKW than stay at a value or moderate for the same money. We loved it there!

If you're staying a full week you get a full housekeeping on day 4 and trash and towel service only on day 8.

Main difference between DVC units and standard rooms are the kitchenette areas in the studios and of course all larger rooms have a full kitchen, washer dryer, split bathroom etc.

BWV boardwalk views are some of the best views in Disney. Also renting points you pay no taxes.

We own DVC, so needless to say, we love it. I recommend going over to the DVC boards, you will get all your questions answered there. There are posts about renting points, how the transaction goes, etc. We've never rented out any of our points but we have rented from someone because we were a little short on points.

You will love the DVC resorts. Our favorites are VWL and OKW. Just be warned: once you are in a DVC room (like a 1 or 2 bedroom) it's hard to go back to a standard hotel room!!! :cool1:
