Anybody like me or do all of the DISers go to Disney every year?

I'd love to go every year, but that isn't going to happen. It's expensive, and takes me some time to save up! Plus, DH isn't such a fan, mostly because he's never been there, so it's taken 2 years to even convince him to come with me. Otherwise I have to go with a friend or by myself. I have 2 trips planned in 2007, but then I probably won't be back till 2009. But I read the DIS like crazy to get my fix!! :rotfl:

The only reason I've been on here so much lately is because we have a WDW trip planned for next month. I haven't been to WDW since 1986, and Dh hasn't since 1975! Obviously our kids never have.
As much as I would LOVE to go to Disney every year, for us it just isn't financially feasible since we live so far from WDW. Plus I have so many other places I want to vacation at--and we don't have the time or money to do all that plus a WDW trip every year. We'll probably do one more Disney trip when the kids are young, and then I don't see us going back until Dh and I are "empy nesters", LOL!

I'm with the others.

My plan is every 4 or 5 years. It is just too costly to go every year, and there are other places that I would like to go. If time and money were not a factor, I would love to go every year. My girls will be 6 and 2 when we go in January, so I would like to go again when the 2 yo is about 6 or 7.

In any case, every few months, I come to these boards, look at the WDW web site, watch my WDW videos (from the Travel Channel and the WDW vacation DVD), just to get my fill.

Finally, I have a good excuse to be here with a trip planned for January! It is our 10th anniversary and our girls' first trip, so it seems completely worth it money-wise.

We go about every 2 years...Thats how long it takes for us to earn enought points on our various hotel rewards/credit card rewards to pay for the trip. :thumbsup2

I went 92, 94, 99, 2005, and now 2006 because of a business trip my wife is making to the area (saves us her airfare and some per diem). So, that averages out to once every 3 years. (94 was a business trip opportunity too, one I wish I hadn't pursued in retrospect. Daughter was only 18 months old and scared of the characters. We went in August, when it was stifling, raining every afternoon, and crowded)

So, nope, you are not alone

I've been in 1976, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1995, 2001 and 2006 (just last month). Our average seems to be every 4 -6 years. We probably won't go again for a couple of years, and that works for us. I'd like to go back for Epcot's Food and Wine Festival; and since my youngest is 17, it may be just DH and I on the next trip. And then again, my niece wants to go just before her oldest starts school, which will be in two years, and we may do the whole family thing. That would be 10-15 of us. While we love Disney, we also like to go other places as well.

:cloud9: we try to go every year :p But the b/f also likes to see other places and plan other trips. I told him that no matter what, we have to at least go once every year in the near future! He's a dis nut just like me haha.

My in-laws have an Orlando timeshare at the end of August, so we try to go down then (they got a 3 bedroom on purpose so all the kids and grandkids would come down and join them). I LOVE WDW, but my husband is not such a fan. I've managed to get him to go the last two years, but to be honest, it just wasn't worth it last year with him. He was a crank. Our two DDs wanted to play in the pool more...only the in-laws seemed pleased (they never do the parks, but I talked them into Epcot and they loved it!).

Anyway, this year I have a new job and can't go down at this time. He's taking the DDs and planning on just doing MK and Cirque (the one thing he really liked). I mentioned that a one day ticket is $70 now and he was shocked! I am hoping to go back down with my sister, probably in Dec 2007, for a long weekend. She and I had a great time 2 years ago. It's best to go with those who can share in the Disney magic. :goodvibes I've also mentioned to my girls about taking a mom-daughter trip with each of them at some point...that would be fun.

For now, I am just reading through the boards and reliving my memories... :sunny:

We've gone nearly every year since we got married... It's part of what is special about our marriage... Disney is part of our romance. :)

And now our kids are hooked...

We go once a year...though we struggle and scare ourselves when the bill comes in...

I hope you get to go when you are out of school... I went one year on Spring Break when I was in college... with my cousin... we met up with my then boyvfriend who was down with his brother and mother and sister... it was not NEARLY as fun as going with my husband. :)

Remember--going to school gives you a boost in your income earning ability... which means you stand a better chance at having a salary that affords you the ability to go yearly to the World.

In the meantime... live vicariously through everyone else and soak up the magic... Visiting Disney boards is what holds me over between trips... For me, planning is half the fun...

WE had gone before under DHs great protests! WE had stayed off the proerty the times before but after staying at POFQ last April the WHOLE family is hooked! DH asked if we could go by ourselves to just stay at the resort!

SO now I am l excited since next year we will go again in April for their birthdays but I am hoping the Budget Boards will teach me how to squeeze a trip for the both of us during free dining!

I promised DS for his 12th birthday we will go to Yellowstone I will have withdrawls that year I fear!

Do you think its too early to plan his wedding at WDW he is 10 now! :rotfl2:

I love reading DISboards every day, even if I don't have plans to go in the near future. I too find it more entertaining than t.v. sometimes, as one poster mentioned.

I live in FL, and I don't even go every year. Maybe because it's hard to find people to go with. The one time I've stayed overnight (and it was on location) was for a dance competition that was held at the Wide World of Sports. All the other times I've gone, it was a one-day trip.

Hopefully I will be able to go a lot more times in the future. Maybe I'll consider taking a solo trip, since I am very independent and like going places alone.

When Dw and I took our first trip together, she had never been and I had not been since childhood in the 70s. She was worried about the expense and suggested a value or moderate. I said let's do it up right, because we might never get the chance to go back :lmao: We decided to stay at WL :goodvibes We drove all night (9 hours) and arrived at 5:30 am that trip and walked into the lobby of the WL and were both in awe. We attempted check in knowing that 4:00 pm was the official time and the CM politely advised us that our room was not ready  BUT WAIT says the CM "Let's just upgrade you to one that is" pixiedust: We had the best time and decided to try to go back the next year. We made it happen and again drove. This time we ventured out off property to see what was around. We knew we couldn't make it happen three years in a row :sad2: and stayed at the WL again. I found a link to win a trip to WDW on the Downtown Disney site. The DW diligently submitted us every opportunity. Yes we actually won a four night five day stay w/parkhoppers :cool1: We said to ourselves that was it for a while. :rotfl2: three months after our return home, we were checking into the DVC (which we had avoided the kiosks fervently on every trip) :3dglasses We bought DVC :Pinkbounc We have figured out ways for us to cut costs and make the trips less expensive (buying 10 day tickets w/ no expiration, eating offsite sometimes, etc.) and found that it is doable for us. We are planning our first year layoff next year since we have been married to do a cruise. I have been informed just today, that we might be looking into a little visit to THE WORLD, since we will be in Florida anyway. So it didn't start out to be an annual event, but it's where we really enjoy going to get away from all the work and family drama back home.

We only manage to make it out there every 3 years or so. Our next trip is in Jan. for my DD's 5th birthday and since a friend told me about this site about a month ago I am now addicted to it!

Sorry I am total opposite.. I go probably 5 times a year... I hope you will go soon.. Its such a fun and nostalgic experience

I was lucky enough to visit DW last year, but before that trip, it had been at least ten years since I had been. With student loans and wedding bills, it will probably be another ten years before we can go back. But I still visit the board often. :yay: :yay: :yay:

We generally go every year (since 1999). Owning DVC makes this possible, otherwise we wouldn't have the upfront money every year.

Also, I have a sis in law in the keys and one in CA so we try to alternate our trips so that one year our FL family comes up and then the next year we spend in CA. We generally have enough points to buy their room for them. We get to go to Disney and see the family. It works out well.

I just came across this board and am so happy with all the new things I am learning even for somebody that goes so often!
