I did not have this enabled until yesterday. I changed it - thought it would be nice not to always have to sign in - but am now getting oodles of blank email messages that are originating from boards@disboards.com. Argggghhhhh!!!!

I can't see where I can change back and/or disable the cookie for this "remember me" option.

Anyone? Heelllllllppppppp!

I think if you logout and then go to log back in you can uncheck it.

Bless you, Rebecca!

Ok - did that. (Had to log in to send this message!) I'll see now if I keep getting the blank emails - every frickin' five minutes! - or if they now stop.

Hmmmmm.....I'll letcha know!

Thanks, Buffy!!!

I *really* appreciate the help - I've been so puzzled about these blank messages and couldn't seem to understand why I was getting them and couldn't match the messages' "time received" portion up with anything.

Let me know if there's any other info you need to help solve the mystery.

Merci beaucoup!

Pam

Are you sure it is the remember me function that is giving you problems? I am set up that way and I don't get emails.

Go to user cp
select Edit options under "Settings and Options"

Under Messaging and Notification, look for the second box -- title is default thread subsciption mode

In the drop down box, make sure you have no email notification selected.

I used to get tons of email per day - -everytime someone posted on a thread I subscribed to, once I changed this, no more emails

No - I'm not sure it is the "remember me" - but that's the only thing I (like ever!) changed and the blank emails started coming in yesterday within four hours of this change. Might be a big co-inkidink - but....???? I've just *never* gotten blank messages like this before, from anyone, and when DH took a second before leaving for work this morning and found out the source code said "boards@disboards.com" - at least I knew it wasn't anything sinister, but just puzzling.

I had disabled the email notification too yesterday (at the same time I activated the "remember me") - but are still getting some, not all, email thread reply notifications, too. Odd! I don't know if that takes some time to "take"...?

Oh, to be a tech weenie and understand all this stuff!!! :rolleyes1

After dinner (and a fudge break!), I just logged back into my email.

I just posted again to the Technical Board - (thanks, Buffy) - I had a slew more new blank emails that came in between 8:26 and 9:01 tonight! Also, there were new DIS thread reply notifications, despite the fact I turned that off (twice!) today.

Sigh. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there's a problem somewhere on the boards. It seems other DISers are having this problem too - and it just popped up yesterday for these folks too. Perhaps it is just a fluke that it started for me just after I did my "remember me" change...still don't know.

I'm too tired to think any more about this tonight. Bigger and better brains than mine can try to diagnose this!!!
