We stayed there in June for $90 a night and it was great for that price. It was clean, the room was large enough for the 5 of us, and it was close to the crosswalk. The pool was decent sized compared to a few right there, and the store on property was great.

The breakfast left a lot to be desired but we only used it one morning and ate in our room the rest of the time. Parking can get scary but we got in really late in the day. If you are going to have a stroller, please request a room on the right hand side when you are facing the hotel from the street. The left side has no elevator and you must use the one on the right and walk all the way around the hotel (very hard to do when carts are out blocking your path). That is my only recommendation, otherwise it was great.

We stayed there last year and had no complaints. The breakfast was not great, as was already mentioned, but we always found it better to eat a big breakfast at the Ihop or Denny's and that would keep us going for a good part of the day. It was a very close walk to the park, and we could even see the fire works from there.

Another vote for the Tropicana. We stayed there in May of 2005 for our son's 5th birthday, and it was a really nice, clean, simple place to stay at. The walk into the park was just fine, as it sits across the street on Harbor Blvd. And the continental breakfast was great, although the free items are not really substantial eating. They do have cereal and fruit for a small charge, and it is surrounded by restaurants. Be wary of the little convenience shop located there, as it is WAY expensive.

We just stayed there in Aug, and it totally worked for us. Basic, clean, no frills, close to the park; just what we wanted. we had a stroller but folded it and carried it up the stairs so room location was not a problem. Breakfast was nothing special (hey, it's free), cereal was $1, milk another $. Convenience store had the essentials (including breakfast). I think there was even a little cafe or something (we didn't check it out). We'd stay there again.
