DH and I travel with as little as cash as possible. Besides the little ice cream stands, does any of the food places and novelty shops not take plastic? If we need to bring extra cash, we will, but if not, I'd rather not! Thanks!

That's a good question. I was wondering this myself. I don't like to travel with a lot of cash.

Cash, what's that :rotfl: ? Everything goes on the KTTK room card. I went in Dec and didn't spend a penny of actual cash, although I did keep a few bucks on me just in case :woohoo:

Goin' back in March and plan on doing the same thing.

We learned that the stands that do the hair braids at the water parks and resorts don't take room cards - at least they didn't last trip.

If I have cash in my pocket, its rare.
Money to pay the credit company.....

also rare. :rolleyes1

The only thing we've ever needed cash for is tipping and taxis. The taxis might take credit cards but we always give them cash. You can use credit/KTTK card to tip at meals, but bell hops and the like need real cash

We used our room key (which had a Disney VISA for a charge) to pay for everything but food at the cart just outside the turnstyles to Animal Kingdom (that had juice and cinnamon rolls). We did not carry our credit/debit cards themselves - so that could have been different.

We too take very little cash. We use our KTTK cards for nearly everything.

Another place that you can't use your KTTW cards (but can use credit/debit cards) are the restaurants and shops at the Swan and Dolphin; we found this out one very uncomfortable morning when we had a breakfast at the Garden Grove and had to send one person back to the room to get a credit card while the resyt of us were held hostage at the cashier... :scared:

The barbershop on Main St. is not yet set up for card charging. We had to run over to the atm at city hall. Michael said they would be getting it soon but he didn't know when.

speaking of using resort ID's for charging...is it possible to put cash or traveler's checks down on our account and charge from that or does it have to be a credit card? I've seen people say that they use cash also, just explain it to the cm when checking in and getting your resorts ID's? I've read that you can also go and ask for a printout of your charges at any time, add more money, etc. I need to know if this is correct or not so I can plan what to do money wise :)

One other question...when you use your resort ID to charge say dinner...is the bill treated just as a credit card where they bring it to your table and you enter the tip then sign for it? Thanks for any answers!

The little ice cream stands (with the Mickey bars and popcorn and such) DO take the KTTW card, unless their machine isn't working. The only place I haven't been able to use it (other than the DTD places) is the little crepe stand outside of France. Don't know why.

Don't know if this helps...

The barber shop does take credit cards but not debit cards or your key cards. We always us a credid card there and they use the old way of carbon copies to get the information.

Yes, we've done this, both with cash and traveler's checks. Just put down the amount you'd like to charge against when you check in to your resort. Yes, you can ask for a printout at any time during your stay. When you check out, any leftover funds will be given back to you in cash (even if you put down traveler's checks in the first place).

About the restaurants, it's exactly like using a CC, and just like you described.

Oops sorry about that.We asked about the key card and I assumed they didn't take any cards and we all know what that makes me.

I guess he's set up because I used a credit card last week.

There are a few "street" vendors in each park mostly selling popcorn pop cotton candy that take only cash. Any with souvenirs etc. are hooked to the electronics. My best advice though is to have an account opened at check in with your credit card and then you can just use your room keycard to charge and not have to worry about a credit card ebing stolen or anything. We even had 100 dollars each put on the kids cards for our 9 day stay and never had a fit about them wanting something. Just said "you have your money on there if you really want it. Just choose wisely." Only one out of 3 actually even came close to spending the entire amount. Pickier when they think they are spending their money. hehehe

The coffee stand outside of the Canada Pavilion does not take Key to the World Card as they are a contract company and they are CASH only. So if you are looking for a better cup of coffee you need cash
