Since my Duh is a sucky driver I am shopping around for new car insurance. Dh has been a fine driver with no accidents since he was 20 years old (he's now 38) but then in the span of 9 months he had 2 at fault accidents. :sad2: We just got the policy renewal and it has doubled. :scared1:Anyway I have been doing some shopping online today and I am getting an online quote from Progressive for $372 less per year. I also priced out the homeowners and it came out to a savings of $169 per year. We have been with the same insurance company (Horace Mann) for both car and home since 1996. I would switch to Progressive to save. Anybody have experience? Would you recommend them? Why/why not? TIA!! :)

We have had them for 15 years now. I can't tell you much good or bad about them since I have never had to use it though.

My step son has them, he had a no fault accident last summer and his pickup truck was totaled. Progressive came out within a day or two to look at his truck to figure out what they were going to give him and they cut him a check on the spot, for twice as much as what we thought the truck was worth!

I can't believe how quick they were and they give him a great payout!

When I got divorced 4 years ago my insurance company doubled my rates. I had been with them for 10 years (never had a claim).

My insurance agent recommended Progressive and was able to get me an even cheaper rate than the direct online quote.

I have since only had one claim, for a windshield. They did increase my rate slightly after that. It is still a good rate for me though.

We have had them for about 2 years now. My mother in law is on the policy with us and has had two claims. They were quick about handling them and our rated did not go up. The only problem she had with them was that she had a deductible for a hit and run, she says she has been hit before and never had a deductible. I have never had a hit and run claim with any company so I can't really compare. I like how they give you a check for the claim instead of paying the garage. A few years ago I had Geico and my mother in law (we really need to ditch her she is a bad driver and has bad luck) had an at fault accident with my car and Geico made us take it to their shop, they did a shoddy job. Then someone hit me while driving and I had to take it back to the same cruddy shop. They raised our rates so we switched. So anyway I like how with Progressive you have the option to take it anywhere you want.

I'm an independent agent and sell Progressive. No complaints from my customers, but I have other companies that almost always beat their price.

We've had Progressive for about 6 years. We've had 3 claims in that time. They have been excellent to deal with and made each step as easy as possible, even getting the rental car when needed. Our rate is great. I have an insurance guy who looks around for me once a year to see if I can get a better rate, and no one can touch my Progressive rate. None of our claims have impacted our rate. I manage things on the website with ease. Any time I've needed to call with a question it's been answered effeciently and accurately. I would highly recommend them.

I have had Progressive for 5 years, got rear ended, the other driver was with Progressive. Our cars were both fixed in 2 days at a dealership with rental. They didn't get my payment in the mail a few days ago, so I called and put it on my debit. She looked and said I had paid it on time for 5 years so she took off the late charge for me. I just priced out insurances the other day online and Progressive was the 2nd cheapest.

DH and I have had Progressive for over 5 years where we insure 2 vehicles. We have had 4 not-our-fault claims: car broken into with lots of damage, 2 hit-and-runs while parked, and someone rear-ended us. DH has a speeding ticket and a minor in-motion violation on his 3-year driving history (I think that's the time frame they keep track of).

Our first ever claim was the one where the car was broken into - the customer service on that claim alone has made us return customers. We discovered the damage at 11:45 pm the night before Thanksgiving, including passenger window entirely gone after being smashed with a brick. We got a very friendly customer service agent on the phone. We were 5 hours from home in Milwaukee, where it was already wintry cold. I didn't know how we'd get the window repaired so we could drive home that weekend without freezing. The rep found us a repair person who came out to us on the Friday - morning after Thanksgiving. And the remainder of the repairs we could deal with when we got home.

Price has always been best for us - we shop around about once a year.

I've had Progressive for 9 years and in that time, I've been hit head on, had DS20 and DD19 start driving, DH's car was broken into, DH's Harley broke in ATL, DD hit a deer in a brand new car, DD was hit in the school parking lot, and DD was hit in her friend's yard. We have all our vehicles insured with Progressive (3 Mustangs, 2 Durangos, 1 Sebring, 1 Ram, and 3 Harleys) and they are great!! They pay quick and fair, they call every day when you have a bad accident, they make sure your vehicle is fixed quickly and correctly and most times with a warranty on the repairs, and their roadside assistance is awesome!! I won't be changing to any other insurance because their service is great! I just don't think I could get that service anywhere else.

I had Progressive for about 6 years. My rate never went down and we never had any accidents just a few speeding tickets over the years. This month I got a mailing from Ford Motor company insurance and was quoted a hundred dollars less so I switched. It's for the same coverage. I also have the roadside assistance and car rental on my new policy.

We had Progressive for about 6 years and had pretty good expierences with them. We were involved in two accidents during that time frame. Both were the other drivers fault. I dealt directly through Progressive the entire time vs. the driver's insurance. We had no complaints and they did a great job for us. The only reason we switched was the insurance offered through my company is about 15% cheaper than anything I had quoted.

I have always heard good things about Progressive, but last week, I had to take my car in to replace a mirror and I was talking to the body shop manager about insurance (because I have a mysterious scratch on my car that no one in the family will claim to doing) and he told me Progressive is the worst insurance company to work with. Now - that may just be from the body shop's perspective and not apply to the insured. I would ask people in your area how their experience has been.

DH had several auto claims with them before we were married. Said they took care of everything, no questions asked. He refuses to switch to my State Farm policy (I have house, life, and my car with them) even though it's cheaper in our case. I can't speak for their home owners insurance but DH loves their auto coverage and service.

We have had Progressive for about 8 years now, and we LOVE :lovestruc them. I am actually paying about $150 more per year than I could with another agency, but I stayed with Progressive because their Customer Service and claims process is the absolute BEST!!!!! I have had a few claims over the years (let's just say I am not good at backing up :rolleyes1) and it is sooooooooooooo easy to do. Where I am you just drop off your car at their claim center, they have a rental waiting for you, and they take care of everything and call you when it is done. When you pick up you pay your deductible and you are done! :) My husband was in a no fault accident about 5 years ago (a drunk hit-and-run) and the adjuster was out the next morning and we had a check in our hands in less than 24 hours for the Blue Book value of the car.

A few months ago my DH was rear ended while sitting at a red light. The other driver's insurance had to take of the charges (obviously) and we so wish they would have had Progressive. My DH had to go get estimates and submit them, it took a couple of weeks before the car was car was fixed, they were hard to get a hold of.....Progressive can simply not be beat. :thumbsup2
