Anybody have a Cricut?

I have the original Cricut. I think they call it the "Personal" version now.
I've had it for about 3 years. It took a good 6 months to get used to it, but now I can't imagine not having it. I'm an avid scrapbooker and use it for just about every page. I have about 12 cartridges that I own and my local scrapbook store has almost all them them to use at crops. I also use them for the kids school project and to make Birthday invites and Christmas cards.

I LOVE my Cricut.

Go to the Creative Community section of Disboards.com and you'll find a Scrapbooking forum and a Swap forum.

Those people are all about stamping, card making, scrapbooking and can provide you with any info you need.:flower3:

Yep, I have the Expression too. I love it although I don't get to use it nearly enough. I'm really looking forward to getting to Orlando to go shopping for more cartridges, although I have quite a lot already. But to buy here in our local scrapbooking shop, they are $160 each. I've bought most of mine from ebay and a couple of US based internet stores, but postage can be a killer. I've got the two princess carts along with the two mickey ones and the the two pooh ones. But dd really wants the Hannah Montana and Tink one. The one we have used the most is paper doll dressup. The kids just love making the dolls and heaps of clothes to dress them in.

There are several Michael's stores in the Orlando area. I know that in New England they have been offering really good sales on Cricut cartridges. They usually sell in my area for $80-90 each. The sales have been for $30-45 dollars each - depending on the week. Check out Michaels.com when it comes closer to your trip. You can look at their sales flyers online to see what sales are coming up. Sale in my area usually run from Sun-Sat.:flower3:

I have the personal Cricut and LOVE IT!!!!

As for cartridges...shopping online is way cheaper than a sale at Micheals. I use OhMyCrafts or CustomCrops to order mine...well, my hubby orders them as 'gifts' for me! :) Either way, it's a far better deal price wise!

I just checked out OhMyCrafts.com and I buy my cartridges for the same price on sale at either Michaels or ACMoore. I think the retail sales prices differ depending on where you are located. I also make my purchases in New Hampshire, so there's no sales tax and no shipping.

I know when we go to Central FL everyone raves about the outlet shopping and my husband, mom and I don't get it, again, because we shop in NH. I think between our retail sales, NH outlet stores and no sales tax, we are just lucky enough to get really good prices.

But our property taxes make up for it!:headache:

I have the second Cricut, I think...it's not the big one, but it's not the original one...I just got mine a few months ago. My Mom upgraded to the Expression so she gave me her other one. I've got a few cartridges, but I have only purchased one for myself! The others were given to me...:)

I had the feathery edge problem with some of the things that I would cut out in the beginning, but I think i've got my settings right now so it's not an issue. I believe that the expression has an option for a second cut or something like that...where it will go over the same thing twice. When I do that on my sister's expression, it resolved the feathery issues I had.

I'm new to the paper scrapbooking scene. I'm slowly pulling the pics from PCC 1.0 into an album. My sister is a Close to My Heart rep. I keep buying all kinds of stuff from them...I really like their inks, paper sets, and stamps! :thumbsup2

I have only made some thank you cards on it and was not very happy with how they turned out. The edges were kinda rough/feathery. I'm trying to figure it out so I can use it for bulletin boards this year at work.

If the blade didn't cut the whole way through your CS (which is what causes the feathery edges sometimes) have you tried adjusting your blade so it cuts deeper? I've found that if I use CS from Stampin' Up (which is thicker) I get that problem, but the thinner stuff - like what I get from Michael's, it cuts much neater.

I LOVE mine btw :)

I have one and I don't use it like I should. Both of my boys have used it for school projects.

Here's a cutting map tip for when it loses it's stickiness:

Clean it then use a big glue pen (like Zig) or spray adhesive to cover it, and let it dry. It's good as new.

Thanks MegB. I've had a look at their website and am planning a trip. Hopefully there will be a sale on while we are there.
Peanut&PigletsMom - I've always used OhMyCrafts and CustomCrops in the past. I've found them the cheapest. But postage is a real killer to her. It can add $15-$25 to the cost of each cartridge depending on how many I buy.

I have one . . . I made a really cool poster for my window when we went to Disney in 2007. Also, I cut the Mickey head from lime green book-cover material. It was translucent and tacky on one side. It made great window clings for my window without leaving any sticky residue.

At home I use it for everything. . . scrapbooking, Yard Sale signs, posters for Girl Scouts, etc.

I have one and love it. I cannot imagine not having one. I have all the Disney carts and they are so fun to use. They also add so much to my layouts. I bought the personal cutting machine. I didn't really feel a need for the Expressions - that is cutting 12 x 12.
I think it is worth it. You cannot go wrong if you are a scrapper.

Hi my name is Tori, and I am cricut adict. :rotfl2:

I have both the original one and the expression. I love them and use them almost daily. My most recent project was an autograph book that I made to take with us in September. You can see the pics over on the scrapbook forum under the creativty forum. If anyone has any questions, I can try and answer them.

I have found using textured cardstock it tears or leaves ragged edges on the paper. Try using a heavier cardstock that is smooth, if you are getting ragged edges.
