Anybody have a copy of "Walt Disney World with Disabilities"...

I would not recommend it and there was this posted and a lot of people put it down. I have the book and feel that There are much better books out there and this is basics. I can get more info on the internet and food allergies were skimmed over. I do remember the thumbs down on this book.

Are you talking about the Passporter Book?
The title of the 1st edition was "Passporter's Walt Disney World For Your Special Needs."
The title was changed to "PassPorter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World" for the next editions.

or "Walt Disney World with Disabilities", by Stephen Ashely?

People have felt the Passporter book was good, but as was already posted, the other one did not get rave reviews here.

I had meant the Ashely one. If anyone has "PassPorter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World", I'd love that one! LOL

I had made the mistake of buying the Ashley one. The first several pages averaged at least three factual errors per page. We had one person (who no longer posts in this forum) who thought it was terrific, so I spent some money and time with it. There were more than 20 errors in the first few pages. Also it was written concerning the effects that WDW had on his wife and ignoring most other disabilities.

The Passporter "Open Mouse" is much better and more accurate and pretty much covers almost all disabilities.

What he said is right.

Like we recommend using one's disabled placard. If the person does not have one then they can inform the CM at the toll gate and be directed to the medical parking lot. AAA members can try that option. It is at least one block and sometimes a quarter mile hike from disabled parking to the ECV rental place. We at disAbilites also strongly recommend renting a wheelchair or ECV from offsite.

The book just mentions the parking lot for those with placards.

I bought a copy of walt Disney world with disabilities. A few months later I was on their site and saw that the book had been revised and they were offering free copies to anyone who bought it before then, so I got one. On the site they said that they had hired Disney employees to bring the book up to date and make corrections. They also added a lot more information.

On the web they mentioned that this was their first book, and there was a learning curve. I think it was a stand-up thing that they did this. I used the revised book on my trip, and I found it to be accurate and oh so helpful!

I also have Passporters, which is excellent, but WDW with Disabilities is excellent too, but just different from Passporters. There was a lot of really useful stuff in there that wasn't in Passporters, and vica versa, so I think they go great together and would recommend buying both.

I originally bought wdw with Disabilities because I saw it discussed on this forum. That thread had a lot of people on it that really liked it, and that’s why I bought it. Considering that they made it accurate now, I guess it's a matter of taste and opinion at this point. I'd prefer to have as much help as I can get, and I was glad that there's more than one book out there that really helped me.
