Anybody get grief over only having one child? (Inspired by cats7494)

I have several thoughts.

I always wanted more than one child, so did DH. We had our two within 12 months, they are now 3 and 4. Sibling rivalry is a very difficult thing to deal with. Sometimes I spend more of my time with them refereeing their squabbles than playing with them and spending quality time with them. I wouldn't change it for the world, but I find myself wondering if I would be a better parent to only one child. I can definitely see why someone would really enjoy having only one child.

Denae: I must admit this was a big factor in why I have an only. My sister is 3 years younger and we STILL argue constantly and I'm in my 40's. I see friends who have two and it's that constant bicker bicker bicker that would drive me bananas!

Thank for all for responding to my ramblings.

We often get asked if we are going to have another child, you know, to try for a boy. We thought seriously about it for a while after DD#2 was born. DH really wanted a boy. I would love one too, but I am stressed to the max with the two I have now. I know I would love a little boy just as much, but we have become very comfortable the way things are. I don't know that I would want to go back to sleepless nights and poopy diapers. I don't know that I want to change my family dynamics, either. We are just getting to the point where we are financially comfortable enough to take nice vacations, fix up our house and save for the future. I don't know that I want to disturb our little world. My MIL passed away two years ago, and I would even feel some guilt that if I had another one now, she would never have been able to meet him or her.

My parents had me and my brother in less than a year, and my other brother almost 11 years later. My grandmother followed the same pattern. Maybe I am genetically programmed to have another child some years from now. Knowing my luck it would be twin girls.
:earseek: :earseek:

But we are happy the way we are now, no plans to change.

Family composition is such a mixture of planning, luck and surprise that you can't really question anyone's result.
