Anybody following the Charlie Sheen story?

I haven't seen anything posted. I thought for sure I would have. If the story already has a thread, sorry.

Anyhoo---What do you all think?

When it first came out I thought, Oh crap--he screwed up. But the more that comes out, it seems like she made stuff up to get him in trouble.

With his history of booze, drugs, prostitutes...it's much easier to think he did it rather than giving him the benefit of the doubt. Sigh, another teaching moment for my child.
See- even if he didn't do it, people will think he did because he's made such bad choices in the past. Fair, maybe not. Human nature? yep.

Oh--I agree. That was mine and DH's first thoughts. But now she has recanted most of her story. Just a huge mess.

When I first heard about it, I just rolled my eyes and thought, here we go again. It seems like every relationship he gets into, he goes crazybutt on someone. Hopefully his children are not around whenever he (allegedly) opens a can of whoopybutt on someone.

MTE. I feel sorry for the kids. C.S. first wife (Denise Richards) doesn't look quite as crazy (though she had many issues too). She is probably telling his second wife, I could've told you but you wouldn't have listened.

I'm not really following this story but I noticed today on People.com the Sheen's Christmas card photo was posted, with their twins dressed as Santa Claus. I thought it was rather strange and unorthodox that the photo postcard also included Brooke's family (exclusively) on the right side of the card. I mean, were they trying to save money or something? Why would you put your wife's family only on the Christmas card too?? Here is the photo:

That is kinda weird if it was a family xmas card. Maybe it was from just Brooke to friends or coworkers, etc. showing her and all of her family.

If that is the case, then that would show a "separatist" mentality. I mean Charlie has family too! He even has a 25 year old daughter.

He totally did it. I don't know if there were any allegations of abuse with his first wife, Donna Peale, but Denise Richards certainly accused him. Plus he SHOT his then GF Kelly Preston. He has a pattern of abusing women as well as all his other problems. I don't care what her blood alcohol was, I would need a drink if I were married to this guy too. Why this loser is on a family sitcom is beyond me.

I bet you anything Brooke is recanting for a bigger divorce payout within a year.

Thanks for posting that. I got confused. For some reason I thought Denise Richards was his first wife. Probably because she was in the news a lot. Hard to keep track.

He does have quite the history.

ETA- His former GF isn't the Kelly Preston that is married to John Travolta is it? I never heard of that incident.

Would that be John Travolta's Kelly Preston? Hmmm, I never heard that, when did that happen? The guy is a nutcase. I liked his movies though

I have no idea if he did it or not, but isn't it common for abuse victims to recant their story. So her recanting isn't enough "proof" that he did not do it. However if he didn't--then shame on her. However, the pattern fits that it is more likely as you have stated.

On 2.5 men, he plays a womanizing jerk--so he's kind of playing in character. Given the content, I've never considered it a "family show" and unfortunately--jerks who act, can still gain employment.

I hadn't heard of it either--but it comes up all over google and was listed as an accidental shooting.

If it was honestly an accident, it isn't fair to suggest that he did it on purpose or that was a sign of abuse.

The more I learn about CS--the less whacky and crazy Denise Richards seems when their relationship concluded.

The police report has Brooke drunk at 8:30 in the morning. I think her account would be suspect at the least.


He's seemed a lot more stable since he kicked the booze and drugs. Most of his bad behavior is from before rehab. Denise's accusations were all disproved in court.

He might be guilty but, I don't trust Brooke's story.

Maybe Brooke has some kind of post-partum depression... She could be struggling with some stuff (alcohol or something) and Charlie, doesn't know how to handle her? Just my theory.
